During the period in which Daisy was transitioning the 880 design from metal to plastic receivers, they
made some rifles that had metal receivers, plastic pump arms and new style chamber seals and exhaust valves.
The valve body and bolt fit the old metal receivers without modification, as the bolt remained unchanged and the loading port was still .177.
The US made plastic receivers I believe used the same valve body/bolt.
These changed when they went to china, as the bolt was basically a .22 bolt w/.177 probe tip, (Pity they no longer make a .22 pumper...) and the loading port is .22 but necks down to a .177 leade.
This sound right ??
The crossover valve body is kind of a rare bird......
My impressions are that the new style pump/chamber seal produces higher pellet velocities with a given number if pumps.
Maybe due to lower chamber volume due to the fat nose on the abutment occupying a lot of volume...
I need to do some chrony testing........ New ones sure do "crack" louder..
Anyway, if that assertion proves out, my desire to build the ultimate 880 would need that valve with metal receiver.
Use of the chinese VB requires grinding/fitting of the metal receiver due to the larger loading port and bolt.
Any thoughts on the matter??

You can lead a man to water, but you can't keep him from urinating in it.
