Sometimes a Torx bit will bite in. It needs to be an interference fit, meaning you want to almost have to hammer it into the recess.
Hi Tom, I feel your pain. I've had a few of those when the gun manufacturer thought it was a good idea to use thread-lock on small screws... yuk! What works for me every time is to use reverse (left-hand) drill bits...I carry a set of very sharp cobalt bits that I only use for screw extraction. Running the drill in reverse, you want to mismatch the feed vs. speed... i.e. run the drill slow and use enough downward pressure to take a large cut. The idea is to snag the screw and the drill will unscrew it for you.Start wilh a small bit that fits inside the stripped socket. If you end up with a nice clean hole, move up to the next size bit. If the screw doesn't unscrew by the drilling, the head will snap off and you're good either way. The screw will be ruined but I don't reuse them anyway. hth...Wyo
I recommend this. Drills and removes in reverse. I have one and it works GREAT!!
