It isn't overly glossy, but not exactly flat, either.
And it is soooooooooooooooooooo smooth..........

Many paints are close, but seem to be either too glossy or too flat......

Virtually every spray  paint directs you to apply in light coats.
I'm sure that the process is done in just 1 coat by D&C.

Almost all paints I spray have a touch of orange peel; not totally flat and smooth like the original......

Spray cans can be challenging. Too close, too far away, too heavy a coat, too dry between lite coats, temperature and humidity. Some we can control others not. Manufactures have it all dialed in at the factories.

I have some touch-up spray guns, ALA Binks 115 and could shoot using them,
if I could find the right painf........

I used some Black Semi-gloss black Krylon Color Maxx on an 881 barrel shroud...........looks pretty darn good!!

I used some Black Semi-gloss black Krylon Color Maxx on an 881 barrel shroud...........looks pretty darn good!!

I wondered.... I've tried it on an 880 shroud.  Satisfied.

I flow 2 medium coats rather than light coats.
It seems to lay out better.
Dunno how it will hold up,tho.....

Gotta try it on some receivers......

I use Rustoleum gloss black on Crosman 760 receivers. Dry a week, then rub with a patch dampened with Rem-Oil. Then wipe dry. The gloss will be just right. I then cold blue the barrels, screws & sights after cleaning & polishing the metal. Here's one example;

I tend to airbrush everything because I have that capability.  I've been using DuraCoat for several years.  Better than paint.  Inferior to Cerakote.  If you own a compressor then DuraCoat is a good deal.  The basic kit comes with an airbrush that is completely adequate for 90% of what you could be coating.

DuraCoat is scratch and impact resistant but it will soften in some solvents.  Aggressive gun cleaning compounds and some insect repellents can remove it.

I need to dig out my Badger airbrush and compressor. I'm sure they need reconditioning at this point? I won 14 regional concourse championships with that rig.

I think that 760 looks about the same as I remember.  That was my 1st bb gun as a boy in the USA.  My 1st pellet gun was a Diana 23 bought in Scotland. 

Wife never likes it when I bake the duracoat in her oven.  Used to Duracoat a lot of FN FAL, AKs,H&Ks and some 1911s but not airguns.  Maybe I should give it whirl.

Just bought a Daisy 188 maybe I should make it new again?

I have stripped and/or media blasted powder coated stuff before......... it is TOUGH stuff..........

Daisy/Crosman parts are EZ stripped with media blasting........definitely NOT PC....IMO

Get this. Available in 3 sheens and flows out like glass. You have to thin it right and try this cheap little air brush from Harbor freight. I buy the upgrade airbrush hose because the plastic one is junk. Throw the jar away if you don't want to clean it because the kit comes with several. Then after a number of jobs just buy a new  kit. CHEAP and works good. Professional results.

Rustoleum applied as mentioned above. Very smooth as is typical for oil base enamel when properly applied

I found that a coat of Gloss Black followed by a thin coat of Matt Clear gives a very nice finish.
Almost like stock parts. I let the Black dry a few days before I clear.
Everything is soaked in Lacquer Thinner for a couple days, then scrubbed and cleaned again with Lacquer thinner.
Then the painting starts.
I always wear rubber gloves when setting the parts up for paint.
