bb pistols on the new bb gate

Yippee looking forward to this new gate. Wanted to mention a pistol I just bought. The Umarex  Brodax revolver. Have not shot this pistol yet, but on the package it says made in Taiwan. To me that ups the quality.

I bought a Crosman Vigilante that shoots both BB or .177 pellets.  There should be three BB magazines in our mailbox.   When it warms up a bit, I'm gonna' git 'em and try to hit some coke cans while Marjo is serving the church's dinner.  I do enjoy shooting BB's in my Schofield, too.

I also have a Daisy 25 and a youth model RR.  Neither of which gets shot.  The grandsons weren't interested in the RR and the trigger pull on the 25 is atrocious.

Speaking of the Model 25 trigger... does anyone have any idea if that pull can be lightened?

is it the same trigger than the RR? cuz if so, take it out and look at the back of the trigger unit. there are 2 springs. remove the one that gives you back the "1st stage" and it will lighten up the uptake quite a bit. or you can then go find a sfter spring and replace that, and then you can have hair triggers. i like those triggers. they can be tuned quite nicely.

Besides a Marksman 1010, which is reserved for dart shooting. This is my only other BB pistol, a Crosman PPK. It’s NOT ACCURATE AT ALL but the fun factor is loading it up and letting people try. The women really like it, the men like my Crosman 600.

Just learned of a Barra 1858, patterned similarly to the '58 Remington C&B revolver. Although the '58 BB gun doesn't actually function as a revolver it has a built in magazine beneath the barrel. Frame (all plastic) is painted a brass color and probably make a great companion to the Barra 1866 rifle... Crosman also has a similar model for those who prefer the Colt style, not licensed but called the Fortify with 18 shot built in magazine.

The other BB pistols worth noting are the Crosman PFM16, C11 and 1911 non blowback. All take the stick mags of the C11 pistol, but the PFM16 is mostly "metal". Double action only, which can be heavy but can be remedied with a lighter or cut spring if willing to give up some velocity (and gain more shots). Same can be done with the Crosman C11/1911 and related non blowback pistols. My favorite of those were the Crosman Tactical (C11/1911) variants, they came with a faux suppressor that hid a lengthened barrel and were capable of higher velocities or when detuned for lighter trigger pull and higher shot count they still retained very decent velocity.

Saw a clear plastic frame plastic ball/BB shooting pistol the other day . 240 fps with a spring propelled BB. I wondered about the usefulness of this gun and who would by it . I  put my wallet back in my pocket . I just could not see any value in it but Others must have a differentpoint of view

Hey hugh: i've been at this game a long time and for a while i felt like you did. But i kept reading especially from people who live in places where shooting is heavily controlled, about the small range fun they would have with what i considered been as useless shooting. My turning point was actually with airsoft. I read into the history and then i was saw an article and video about Japan's airsoft ranges... I copuldnt wrap my head around it... 300 fps... BBs, less than a FPE?. Now, i dont play airsoft, but a friend of mine had a beretta replica and i tried it once... it was innacurate, but i started to apply all i have learned about airgunning and shooting in general, and things started to "function" better. Different weight ammo, back spin, etc... Long story short, that gun went back to my friend's son, who learned that it was useful at more than 5 paces (i could reliably hit a can of soda at 18 yards, which is forever far with a airsoft pistol). So i went into my "hoard" and pulled out all the weird little pistols i had gathered during my years of collecting, things no one wanted and started doing the same... I gotta say, my Daisy 188 (tuned and accurized by me) can shoot 1 in groups at 10 yards all day long. It will also drill a can at 15 yards (176 fps, mind you), but more important, it was fun tuning and learning how to make them better. I bought older BB pistols that were used indoors back in the day and learned how to shoot them better, how to increase power by making them more efficient, and overall how to make them fun. That also translated to trying that on rifles and long guns we would not normally give a chance to.

 I think by not trying you are deniying yourself of a whole new avenue of fun, and really, what does it cost? Right now you can buy a daisy 340 for peanuts... try that. take it and do groups at 5 yards (yup, is going to be hard). then look at it and see what you can do to better it. try different ammo, replace springs, soften triggers, paint sights... eventually your groups will shrink and you may be able to shoot it at distances that you never guessed it could shoot. and you'll be surprised how little you would say that you cant shoot because of weather. That 188 i can shoot in my kitchen, at midnight with everyone asleep.Co2 guns are a bit noisier. but they will also respond to all the same treatments...

And please, dont think i dont have other more interesting stuff to shoot... this is the first year my collection has gone under 100 pieces (84 as of yesterday)... I have been cutting back. But there are or have been pretty much everything you can think off, from wooden BB shooters from 2 centuries ago, to space age FT rigs and classic one offs. I have learned to approach all airguns with the same degree of curiosity and respect, and more than once i have been pleasantly surprised.

The wood stock/holster is a chineses made re-pop for paintball guns. A little file work on it's latch and fits the M712 fine.
I also have re-pop wooden grips that I'll get put on one day.
