I did about 100 shots at 25 yards today and my groups were a little better. I'd say around the size of a golf ball mostly, with a few groups about the size of a large marble. I'm still learning the artillery hold, and am working with only the crudest of benchrests, still experimenting.
It seems that the scope has been mounted o.k.. It hasn't moved as far as I can tell.
One thing I noticed is that the barrel is smoking after every shot. I haven't heard and cracking noise, so I don't think it is deiseling. Is this normal for an airgun with about 500 shots through it?
Had to quit when it started raining. It really came down for a short while.
So far, so good with the springer. I like it, although the noise and kick are more than I anticipated.

After some more shots the Dieseling will stop. What you are not hearing is detonating, that would be bad. When it finishes dieseling, this would be the time to clean the bore.
The artillery hold works, but takes time to master.
The hardest part is becoming one with the gun, this takes lots of shots, far beyond that of a tin or two.
It will come, relax and enjoy it.

I'm having trouble with the artillery hold.

My hand just doesn't bend at the wrist enough to get it right. My wrists will never bend that way. I can't open up my fingers either. I'm just going to have to come up with some compromise position that will work. I ended up resting the airgun on the back of my arm. Any ideas would be great.
Thanks,
Ron

I posted the 3 finger rest on your other "artillery hold" post. LOL, you gotta love the kick of a little power Man!
After a bit, you'll think nothing of it.
Good Luck. Mike

It sounds a lot louder "to you", than it really is. It's because your ears are next to a Hollow Buttstock and you're hearing mostly the mechanical system operating.
Here's how to help quiet the S.S., as well as weighting tips. Hope this helps. Mike
