Hello, my name is Randy. But I never liked it. I'm the youngest of 10. Born in Iowa, but live in central Tennessee.
About a year ago I bid on a lot from a police auction and found a couple of air rifles in the lot. I haven't had an airgun since I was about 14 and wow, have they come a loonnnggg way.
The ones I got were break barrels, and I didn't even know how to cock them.
But I was definitely interested. I started playing with them and couldn't get a group!!! Being the proud Former Active Duty Marine that I am (and yes I'm very proud of it)....(and have lots of stories), something MUST be wrong with the rifles.
So I started reading the web to find out how to fix it. Huh, artillery hold (?) Nah, nope, gotta b the rifles. Ok I finally surrendered. I did not know everything after all. So I learned the artillery hold, got better. Then got a 1377, then 2240, then pawn shopped and got some cheap/broken rifles, and fixed them, and started trying to make them better.
Obviously now I'm hooked. That (and repairing furniture, and woodworking) are all I talk about.
Finally got a Hatsan at44 long and I'm getting into PCP's now. Ang guy and gals, I could really use some help.
So here I am. And I'm full of questions, and the occasional story......some of which might even probably be partially true sometimes.
Call me Randy, and I'll think your a relative, call me Chap or Chaps, and I'll think you know me, but call me Pokey and I'll smile. But I won't tell you why.
It's a secret.

Chap, Welcome to GTA.
Glad to see you 'discovered' airguns and how much fun they can be.
This is a great place to learn and share.

HaaHaa
Very nice intro Pokey. A BIG welcome to the GTA Forum family. And MANY thanks for your service. I'm proud of my 20 years service also. And no reason to apologize to anyone for it. And also a hardy welcome from a fellow Tennessean. I'm a little west of you between Memphis and Nashville.
As for thinking the airgun is defective, I know that feeling QUITE well. And brings back memories of a few years ago when I picked up my first "modern" springer airgun. I have always thought I was a pretty darn good shot. And fired expert in basic training. But when I picked up a new high powered springer, I couldn't hit anything. WHAT?
I had to learn to shoot all over again. But the beauty of shooting springer airguns is it makes you concentrate on EVERY step in the shooting cycle. From the shouldering, grip, cheek weld, target and sight alignment, trigger finger position, trigger pull and finally the follow through. The benefit of learning to master a springer airgun is it WILL make you a better shot with anything you pick up.
Anyway, thanks for the great introduction. Glad to have you aboard. Post often with any questions, comments or just to keep us informed of your airgun adventures.
And as always....
SAFE & Happy Shooting!!!!
