finally gotten my ixia as i want it.i have removed the shroud and shortened the overall length but added a carbon fibre sleeve just to add some protection and stiffen the barrel up again, the moderator is now directly attached to the barrel instead of the shroud.
only project left is maybe to add a carbon fibre bottle, but the tolerances between barrel and bottle are quite tight so its diamater may be an issue.
Ixia, well to me itīs the Throne...or more so the Throne Gen 2. Picked one up the other day in 22cal and have to say that my first impressions.. vary.Got to play around with it a few hrs, and to be honest.. that trigger, what WERE they thinking? This is a PCP gun. In my book that brings accuracy, and to be able to that it sure helps if you donīt have to fight the thing. Was also a bit surprised that it was a single stage jobbie.First thing was first though and as the piece was brand new out of the box, a number of patches run down the throat of it - using a jag to run them. Per always.. crud and that stuff, per always, needs to come out.Sat down at the bench and let her rip. AFAIK Kral is in on this somewhere too right? At least the mags are absolute dead ringers.. Anyway. Sat down and let her rip shooting pellets at various power levels. Pellets she does well, have to say. Slugs though, not so much and no surprise as the choke on that barrel.. hello! Not that iīve tried them all by any measure but out of the Turkish made guns i have, this oneīs like someone trying to choke a cobra to death.Well, iīve "dechoked" barrels before so no sweat.Right. Trigger.IMO it reminds more of the setup of the Artemis P-15/35 family than anything else, just sans the adjustability - for whatever reason? Trigger rod engages a part of the sear assembly to make it move and this is by the use of an e-clip for a stop. So.. i just tossed that rod on the lathe and cut a few fresh grooves to work from, voila.. i had myself a two stage jobbie at least. That done though, and sear depth set, it soon became evident that the trigger return spring is just as much on the hefty side. Due how the return spring is set of course, and lo n behold....again an e-clip. Hm. At this point out the calipers came as it dawned on me that that rod must be of 3mm. Indeed it is, and this brings that cutting a new groove for the e-clip for the return spring is one thing but.. the end that runs for the sear, i will most certainly take an M3 die to that and a lock nut.The trigger return.. reasoning with myself if itīs work the hazzle to fab an adjustable stop? Simple enough, just a small bung with a threaded hole from the side to lock into the rod and done deal.Seeing how simple, cheap and effective it is to do i canīt for the life of me understand why this isnīt a factory option. Well well...Some have, as friggin always for whatever reason, touted these as "Impact killers". Well theyīre not but letīs be fair here they sure donīt cost of it either. A marked difference vs many other brands is that Reximex have used pins to keep stuff in place, extensively. Me i find it rather smart to be blunt but hey.. thatīs just me.If nothing else makes for a very "non moving around or wearing" scenario. Also rather "Kral". That power adjuster. Seems some are hellbent on modifying them (read - enlarge the passage) why it might be of interest that to get them out you remove the cheek piece, then a small allen set screw. Keep your hand of the hole and turn the gun upside down, out a pic comes. With that pin on just push the power adjuster sideways, out of the block. Install is the reverse.. That said yet another peculiarity is the oval design of the entry port on the barrel. Again a "semi Kral" solution iīd say. Mind you, port sizes for the 22 at least are FAR from maxed out. Please be adviced that weīre talking a regulated gun here.Hammer, hammer spring and external adjuster. First up, the hammer weighs like a TON. In turn the spring for it is very very meek. I fooled around with this a bit and be very aware that performance gains are to be had from increase in hammer spring. Ie; using a DIFFERENT one. What i saw across the chrono with about everything in sight maxed out and a reg pressure of 150 bar using 25,4īs was like 730Kind of tells the story?Weight of the hammer.. i dunno. Believe iīll be making myself one of half that weight to try out. Point here tho is that the weight of the stock hammer coupled with that real lazy hammer spring makes for a rather long shutter time.Me i would have gone the other route, Ie a lighter hammer and much more snappy spring. Then set reg pressure accordingly. But hey, thatīs just meAgain rather Kral. Probe is like intended for slug use, pity the 1:16 barrel isnīt. No matter probe depth is adjustable, from what it seems.Yeah. Indeed. Pins. Theyīre like used all over, and although it of course takes rather small diameter drifts to get them out i still think this is a rather clever approach to it all. Gun sure isnīt without merit though. Like for instance reg pressure adjuster. Or the actual trigger in itself. Loading lever in turn completely ambi.Someone did their homework iīd say. That said a Throne Gen 2 is a "mid hang tag" gun, at least around here it is, and seeing that iīd say itīs a fair bit of kit for the money.Well designed and well executed.Hm.Now letīs see how we can eff this up...
