I have one and love it! I have it set-up in .177, but also have the .22 barrel. I swapped the 170cc cylinder for a 300cc CF bottle, which give me a lot more shots per fill! If you get it in .22, I recommend getting the Huma Air dual port barrel end and their pin probe, it makes a significant difference in the power it will make with the short barrels.
Here’s mine with a slightly longer barrel and an active shroud. No can necessary.

I’ve read those are slightly floppy but I’m assuming the short barrel is stiff

I’ve read those are slightly floppy but I’m assuming the short barrel is stiffHmm, interesting question. I guess because I’m on a forum that isn’t noted for FX guys coming out of the woodwork like defense attorneys when something negative is said about the brand, I will give it to you straight. There is absolutely nothing sturdy about any of the barrel systems on any of my FX guns. That being said you might ask then why do you have two Impacts and a Dreamline. It’s because they are nice shooting, tunable guns and those overly complicated barrels are accurate. If I hunted Cape buffalo or lions with an airgun, it would be a different story. The convenience of interchangeability is a weakness but its what sells a lot of guns. My Compact was an early model with the fat shroud. The liner in that fat shroud was about an inch longer than the one they put in the new soda straw model. I had to machine a piece so I could use the additional plenum. By going with the straw, it made it easy for them to just offer the gun with the additional plenum. Unfortunately additional plenum needs barrel length to work. They probably knew that but at least they gave the plenum generation what they wanted. Here is my gun with the original barrel.
