Well, I can't say that I've seen anybody use Quick Disconnects for the tank attachment. I would be worried about bumping the QD and they separate. But, I put wire ties on my tractor hydraulic QDs to prevent that. Be very careful there. You might have some play in there and need two support bands. Some type of metal band that would be strong enough to sustain the bottle if such unwanted disconnect happened.
FWIW: When I was working on the DPMS hpa conversion, found allot of female and male QD did not have the 1/8" NPT threads advertised. They were likely 10mm straight thread. I have also seen compatibility issues, such the the QD would not go together, even when both were purchased from same supplier. A good number went back to Amazon, but still frustrating.

Not poking holes in the idea...have tried it.
Done it as an experiment...hanging a non regulated tank is really big increase in volume (13ci runs about 215cc’s...so it’s adding the 65cc’s of a P-rod). Made for much longer full power sweet spot for an unregulated PCP. Should work out to whatever energy you’re getting with the non regulated P_Rod but 3X the current unregulated shot count.
Might be my over cautious nature. Think I’d want a support bracket/clamp/ tank band...hanging cantilever weight off that skinny threaded connection to the gauge block just didn’t thrill me.
Something done short term...easy to un-do...but was paranoid enough to use a Challenger gauge block (which was steel) and a rated steel threaded connection….and still didn’t like it.
Thinking a well supported (by two “tank bands”...which would not include touching the should/barrel) might work with a QD…would be a PIA to quick change tanks if you use bands.
If you can’t quick change tanks….why the QD? If you leave it “loose”, are trusting the threaded connection and the QD

Well yes I have also seen where the male didn't fit the female from the same manufacturers. Hope this is not the case with mine. And reason for the QD I was thinking about what one poster said about "alignment" issues. The QD would do away with that problem since it would be able to swivel or rotate to line the bottle up perfectly inline with the factory air tube. And I also thought about the QD connection not being strong enough. That's why I chose 5000 psi fittings and was already aware of securing the sliding locking collar on the female end to stop it from accidently coming loose. Also was wanting a long attachment fitting to hold bottle in alignment with factory air tube, not just supported on the opposite end of the air fittings. That wouldn't be very safe. I want it secure enough that if its dropped I won't have to worry about the bottle moving at all. These are all good points gentlemen, and I appreciate your tips, advice and concerns. That's what keeps us all safe around here when designing around HPA.
Thanks

I've had some time to think about my design so far. I'm now beginning to question the QD idea. That might not be the securest way to establish a connection between the Prod and the bottle. It would rely heavily on the mounting of the bottle to the Prod to aid in keeping the QD connected safely. Does anyone know exactly what must be done to a bottle to run it "unregulated" ? That is if I use a ASA screwed to the top of the bottle and use the 1/8 inch NPT hole from it to the Prod. Is a ASA designed to have that amount of pressure on it continuously? 3000 psi for a few seconds or minutes while filling a tank is a lot different than 3000 psi all the time. All things to consider "before" filling something with 3000 psi !!
Thanks

And my concerns earlier about the QD connection were brought to light when I got the parts in and put it all together. Using the QD was handy since it allowed me to leave the factory fore stock on the Prod and connect the bottle with it just barely touching at the rear by the fitting and having a small 3/16 inch gap at the front side of the fore stock. I filled it up to 1000 psi and let it sit for a couple hours. No leaks but after picking it up and shouldering the gun I will admit I was having my doubts about that QD connection. So I will admit I tried and it worked, although NOT the best way to do it for me anyway. I'm gonna step back and do some more head scratching on the whole thing before my next move. A straight 1/8 inch NPT nipple from the Prod gauge port down to the filler port hole on the bottle is so much more sturdier and robust, although the bottle still needs mounting to the gun to support its weight but still look nice and be completely safe and functional.
The story continues
Thanks
