Jsar raptor holding its own.
« on: November 22, 2021, 11:18:46 PM »
Hey guys, I know some people have had their issues with the raptor but just wanted to chime in and say that Iím becoming pretty impressed with this gun. My tune is set up to shoot the avs 60gr dish base hollow points around 940-950fps. The other day I made a second round hit on a red squirrel at 90yds! The impact was unmistakable lol.  Iím still chasing a slight Stiction issue though. Fairly certain itís not reg creep either. First shot
Is about 15-20fps slow and shots there after sound like itís wasting a tad bit too much air. But at this point Iím packing more energy than a .22 long rifle and Iíd venture to say as or more accurate. 60yds I had a tiny clover leaf.

Now all that said I can see why guys gave up and got rid of these guns. The tunes and adjustability are endless and what I assume, more often than not, become frustrating and people gave up. I mean when less than a 1/8 turn on the buffer can make or break your settings, itís so easy to see how you could bypass your goal all together and chase your tune all day.

My gun holds air perfectly, is about as accurate as I could ever expect and really packs some down range punch. It has me prettt darn impressed this far. Iíll tinker a little more with my stiction issue and keep moving on.

My goal is a Texas hog this winter and Iíd say I have the platform to do it

Jake, that is awesome to hear! I have one of the first built .22 by Travis. I have a couple minor issues that were resolved by Jacob and Matt and they also upgraded the valve and hammer spring components. I tuned mine which like you said is endless and very time consuming but fun and a steep learning curve. Haven't shot mine for awhike as I believe the breech o'ring is compromised and haven't changed it out as I have been shooting my RAW. I want to contact Matt and see iff he would machine grooves on the probe for the o'rings instead of in the barrel. Great PCP's for sure.

I have a Raptor .257 HP which I believe was setup and tested by Scott(motorhead) when he was bailing them out.
It's a 100 yard hole puncher and I have not had any problems with it or shot it lately.
