I would NOT fire a cleaning pellet through a spring gun. It's essentially a dry fire. To me they're just a gimmick. Pulling a dry patch through accomplishes the same or better cleaning without the possibility of damaging the spring or piston that could happen when firing a cleaning pellet. Others may think they are good but not me.
Ya,Gamo...If it's a Gamo with the baffle on the end that don't disassemble. You may be learning ways to dig it out if it hangs up in it. Or hit the thin plastic baffle fins and bust them .I guess any brand with a baffle thing on the end?Opinion
If you need to use them I recommend pushing them through with a wood dowel.
I use the VFG felt buttons with the hole thru them with the Patchworm pull thru lubed with Ballistol then run a couple of dry patches thru at the end. They seem to pull more lead fouling quicker than just patches. I purchased the VFG 500ct in .22.
I usually put 2-3 soaked in Ballistol into the breech, fire. Then I shoot 2-3 dry ones. Followed by 2-3 with FP-10 to lube the barrel. No problems. That is just for a quick clean. For a more thorough cleaning, I use a JL Crown Saver with patches & Ballistol, followed by FP-10.
I don't see a problem shooting them through a pcp, co2 or pumper. Just remove the ldc first. A springer is a different monster for me... no light alloy and no cleaning pellets. Y'all can do what ever you want with yours... you paid for it.
Yes, I wouldn't even push one through with a moderator on it.Much easier just to tie on a patch and pull it.
Pull or push through a Q Tip.
Here's my experience with them. I bought my first adult airgun in the mid eighties, a Diana model 26. Along with the rifle I purchased a airgun maintenance kit made by Beeman. In that kit there was a box of cleaning pellets with instructions. Beeman advised the user to clean a rifle barrel of a springer with 3 of the pellets, 2 pellets for a pistol.I followed those instructions for several years cleaning the barrel of that gun probably a half dozen times following the instructions to the letter. I still own the 26 and it still functions perfectly. Like most springers over the years the shot cycle actually became smoother. I don't own a chronograph but it can still pierce a soup can, both sides at 20 yards. I have stopped using the cleaning pellets some time ago when they started getting bad press but they never caused me any grief.
