I am an experienced reloader and shooter of conventional firearms. I have exactly zero experience with air rifles. I was given a Gamo Swarm Fusion 10X Gen 2 in 22 caliber. I ran a couple of dry patches through the barrel and then examined the bore with my bore scope. This thing does not look like any barrel I have ever seen. The rifling starts exactly at the breech with no provision to seat the pellet (In conventional terms no chamber space at all). The rifling does not extend to the end of the metal barrel but ends about 5/8" short of the end of the metal barrel. The rifling does not end in a precise or uniform manner. See the attached pictures. Notice that there is no rifling at the termination of the metal barrel at the point the red muzzle device is mounted. I expected a small relief at the breech to allow easy seating of the pellet and I expected the rifling to extend to the end of the metal barrel. Is this barrel typical of air gun rifles? For the life of me it appears the barrel is mounted 180 degrees out. Is this even something that anyone here has heard of?
In the ball park... lolIf the best a rifle could do is ' in the ball park ' it would be gone.
Should have mentioned the gun was given to me and is brand new.I have put a few shots down the barrel. It would not stay on a sheet of 8.5x11 paper at 25 feet.
