Seldom find a FACTORY SEAL that is not nicked or damaged on HW rifles ( Excluding 77-97's )
I have seen several HW piston seals that are also undersized over the past few yrs, so that's where I would start looking
The last couple of posts, with 100 % valid content, should go down well promoting Weihrauch breakbarrel sales
Hi All,I acquired a beautiful HW35E this winter after reading some great info on this forum. I shot it every day and put a couple tins of pellets through it. After getting used to the gun and getting my accuracy to the point where I could make a ragged hole from five shots, I decided to try out a tune. I was hoping to reduce spring noise.I installed the JM tune kit following an excellent vid on the internet. I removed the factory grease and very lightly lubed the skirt of the piston seal and the flared area of the piston. I also put a bit around the top hat. After the tune, I’ve been having some issues that I hope some of you might weigh in on:1) The twang is gone, but there is a loud ‘snap’ or ‘crack’ sound coming from the receiver tube. It’s perceptibly louder than the old setup.2) The gun is much more hold sensitive. My groups are much larger now. This might be two different issues. 3) Switching between pellets of different weight (7.33 8.44 10.56) changes the POI drastically. At 5 yards, the difference is .75” vertical from 8.44 to 10.56 grain pellets. This seems like a lot to me but maybe that much drop is expected. Jeff
Hey Jeff,Welcome to the GTA .- Was your POI between pellets different before? If Yes ... how so?- Do you have a chronograph? If yes, what are the velocity differences? If no, does the gun seem more powerful than before? The JM kit most likely had a more powerful spring vs. OEM and the top-hat would give a whisker spring compression and power. These two things by themselves would give you more recoil than before especially if the piston seal is on the loose side.If you can't smell lube burning - likely not dieseling. Inaccuracy could be simply due to more recoil you're not used to.We need more information

I have the impression that it is shooting faster and hitting the target harder. The shot cycle seems to be one crisp singular event rather than a few stages with the original spring. The recoil does seem to have more kick as well. I’ve ordered a chronograph to get some numbers on consistency within pellets and across pellets. There was a shift in POI between pellets previously, but it was pretty minor- something I could correct by holding the stock in a different spot along the pencil grooves. No smoke, no smell of smoke. But definitely a crack sound instead of a thud. From the advice I’ve received so far, it looks like I should 1. disassemble 2. thoroughly remove all factory grease w brake cleaner 3. Examine piston seal carefully (I might post pics for feedback)4. De burr any rough edges. 5. Lube and reassemble.6. Chrony7. just shoot it for a few more tins and break in the new components. SpiralGroove- I saw in one of your posts that you used a plastic sleeve inside the piston when you used the JM spring. Did you remove the OEM metal sleeve or leave it in and place the plastic sleeve between it and the spring?
