I couldn't hold off any longer. I tried to tell myself I could assemble something better, but dang it- The Impact simply checked off too many boxes for me. So I got a Mk2 Impact Compact .30 w/the Power Plenum. I'm going to be selling A LOT of my collection off Anyhoo- here's another Impact build I'm looking forward to getting it all assembled the way I want and tuning it! I'm setting this rifle up strictly for slugs, in .30 cal. Not quite sure what power level, but I don't want to fully max out the gun to it's absolute power. I want a nice, comfortable shooting cycle. - HuMa Dual TP and Slug Probe- HuMa Gen3 Extra High Output reg- FX Slug Power Kit- Saber Tactical stuff: Adjustable cheek piece Arca Swiss rail, Gen2- Ergo Zero Angle Grip- 500cc 4500 psi CF tank- TJ 1-26 barrel, 28" OAL Here's a few pics so far:The barrel only sticks out past the end of the tank by 3" or so, and the OAL w/the 28" barrel will be around 33". Which is awesome...
Have been watching the guys on 68whiskey and have the urge to build a 30 as well. Just for longer shooting and hunting. Being as my 6.5 creedmoor is getting crazy to shoot, even though I reload. Feel bad shooting knowing I can't get components to make more
That is awesome!Need to quit reading your posts so I stop thinking I need one of these as well. lol
Tom , I agree about the price of entry on the Impact. They are great but a tad over complicated with too many o rings . I really like the color scheme you chose but I’m not sold on the Huma regulator. I’m still running the stock reg and have turned it up to 160 bar with no issue. Maybe I just got a good one. Did you order the mold yet and if so , what did you decide on?
I am curious as to what fps you are planing to shoot the .30? I ask as I have an Impact .30 700mm Superior heavy liner, slug power kit with one shim/hammer weight, light spring, rubber ball, Huma split port ( enlarged wider), and stock ported probe installed. (Shooting slugs and pellets) Hammer spring is not maxed out, I have 1mm or more before maxing out at Max wheel setting. My stock regulator is set @ 140 bar and I did recently test shooting the 68 grain NOE mould. Out of the Heavy liner, wheel on 5 I got 100 fpe. I did size to .299". I was curious. I used to shoot these out of a .30 Flex. I can shoot only at home (for now) so the distance is very short so testing is mostly thru a chronograph. If the group isn't a single hole then I pass as experience has shown that the projectile won't shoot further out.
Looks pretty sharp. I like the color scheme you got going.
Cant wait to hear how she performs
