I always wore long sleeve shirts plus a jacket or sweater. Go figure?Humans are strange animals.I'm very hot natured. In my imaginary perfect world I would love the low to be 45° and high 70°.45-70 would be perfect! Cloudy too. Not a real fan of hot, bright sun at all. Tuff on my eyes it seems.45-70 would be perfect for me too.... oh wait! Sorry, temperatures, gotcha!

Good morning GTA! Up at 0630… it’s been a real bang up week, to say the least. Tuesday, after rebuilding a unit and getting 3 other air conditioners going my boss came out to pick me up at my house in a rental to drive to the other side of the state to pickup his van for me to borrow. On the way home my wife told me our AC was out. We all got to my house at the same time, turned out the power protection monitor I installed years ago gave up the ghost. I bypassed it, for now, and got my own AC going. I packed a bag and we drove til about midnight-thirty & stayed in a hotel for 4 hours to sleep & shower. Yesterday morning I got back on the road for 7 1/2 hours in his van for work on my side of the state. The job I was on needs a 12’ step ladder that’s on my van. This morning I need to go snatch that ladder and I have a small cooler that’s down, after that I need to go back to the job I was on yesterday. Thank God tomorrow is Friday.

And with temperatures soaring higher and higher. Stay safe, hydrate and take breaks. I got too hot the other Monday, the heat is definitely affecting me more this year.
John, I sure wish you were available in this part of the country! Finding a good AC tech here is getting harder and harder.I’m scheduled for an 11 hour shift tomorrow to put the cherry on my six day week. So I’m posting early. I won’t have time to tomorrow. The heat index here was 115 today. More of the same tomorrow with 80-90 percent humidity. Fortunately the river is the Lords own swamp cooler! The water coming out of the spring (400,000 gallons per minute!) is 69 degrees year round and on a hot summer day a little breeze is like heaven.
Unfortunately over the last 40 years, there has been little to no emphasis on what used to be called "Industrial Arts" when I was going through high school in the mid 1960's. Today young people are being told that without a college degree in something they will be left behind in the job market. The reality is there will always be a need for those of us that can fix what is broken. My last year doing HVAC as a field technician 2012 my gross earnings including OT was ~$120,000+++. I was able to put my son through HVAC trade school and both my stepsons through college and my wife through nursing school with minimal debt. When the current education system begins to accept that not everyone is cut out to sit behind a desk and start training the next generation of those that can fix repair and build we as a nation will be better able to compete on the world markets

I’ve got two degrees and believe me if I had it to do over again I would not waste the time or the money.
