100 foot ribbon tape, anchored at end & fliped around for 200' then again for 300' ... wala 100 yards.
I got this off Amazon a month ago, they also had single-wheel models for like $10 bucks or so at the time. Used similar device at work for 28 years, real easy way to measure on flat ground:
Another good idea, except I have only one place I can get a (safe) 100 yards (maybe 130ish maximum), and it certainly ain't flat! Was a great idea (and cheap), not knocking it, unfortunately won't work for me. Was kinda hoping Google would work, then I wouldn't need to buy anything. Though the measuring rope idea I can still jury-rig. Thanks mrbulk,Jesse
Here ya go, 330ft(110yds) at Harbor Freight and you don't have to flip.https://www.harborfreight.com/330-ft-x-12-in-open-reel-measuring-tape-62413.html
Thanks all, have a 100' length of rope; just need to verify it's length. Double it over twice, and now only need to use the 25' tape once. Would still be curious about Google Earth's expected accuracy, if for nothing more than quick reference for ranges on my property for myself. Thanks all, lots of good cheap ideas here, (but have the rope and could always use $10 more in pellets for practicing...LOL )Jesse
GPS measurements (non-military) are usually within 3m (10 ft.), but can be worse if there are not lots of satellites above the horizon at your location.... Therefore, IMO a GPS is not good enough for N.U.A.H.... I would tend to think the same about Google Earth, but you could always use that and shoot at 100m (109.4 yds), I would think that would be OK with Marty (and he is the guy to decide).... Note, I'm not talking about scaling up the target here, just using the standard NUAH target and shoot a bit further away to pretty much guarantee you are "at least" 100 yards out.... JMO....Bob

JMO....BobGenerally speaking you are correct, but I would like to point out that a "measurement" taken from google earth has nothing to do with gps. It is a distance from an orthographic image created from multiple overlapping images. The more overlap the better. If you can turn on "3D buildings" (or something along those lines) and it produces 3d images there is more than enough data to create a pretty accurate orthographic model. It will be limited to resolution at that point. The images itself will be much, much more accurate that your generic hand held gps. And if the data is there, more accurate than cheap range finders. Imo it is more than adequate for internet bragging rights
