Quote from: Rob M on April 04, 2020, 09:17:35 AMim impressed it has the camlock on the tailstock..The "cheapest lathe on ebay" also has a cam lock on the tailstock... Well- mine did at any rate. The 8x's tailstock looks far more substantial than the 7x's, overall, which I'm happy about. Dwelling on another thread I've been commenting on, I really wish the U.S. would start making hobby-sized lathes and mills again. Though, with the proliferation of chinese products and at least 40 years of having no other options to buy new other than chinese, I'm not sure an American made mini lathe or mini mill would survive today's market. But I can dream of a brand new U.S. made 6x26 Bridgeport, can't I? Or a brand new U.S. made 9" Atlas? *sigh*

nced, I appreciate your input!! Thank you for linking that vid! Rigidity is a major problem with all these mini lathes. I'm not sure how bad it is on the 10x and 12x, but for the 8x and 7x (I'm assuming the 9x as well), it's a never-ending struggle... It's funny that you posted this, as just the other night, I was thinking to myself: why is everyone cutting threads and such the same direction? I get the whole "that's how it's done" thing- but it's not like I completely subscribe to it... I want to know the WHY. I did in fact think: there's a reverse direction, why isn't anyone cutting "in reverse" (not reverse threads)? I had this thought because I'm so worried about crashing the tool into the chuck... Anyhoo, poorly worded short rant. Thanks again!!
Issue with some lathes is the fact that they have "threaded spindles" so cutting in reverse might unscrew the chuck while machining. LOL.....I bet that could be exciting! My LatheMaster has a one piece spindle and chuck mounting flange.
Well... I'll check again in a couple of hours, but I'm starting to worry again. Still no lathe. Worst still, Ebay is saying it's been delivered. Probably because the parts that were delivered yesterday. They have until COB Monday, then I'm contacting the seller. Because of COURSE None of my projects can ever go smoothly, can they?!
I wouldnt worry they have to have a freight truck drop it off so im sure they are making arrangments. Im looking at getting the same Lathe so very interested in how it goes.
Just contacted the ebay seller. Everything is saying it's been delievered. UPS is NO help, as there are no people responding to phone calls because of this stupid virus. Waiting on response from seller. THIS is one of the MANY reasons why we should not deal with china. If this machine costs $2k, I'd gladly pay it if it means a U.S. product, bought from a U.S. company, on U.S. soil, with a U.S. customer service rep. I'm sick of this. As of right now, I paid over $900 for a 5" chuck, and some garbage chinese parts that showed up in a battered box. We'll see how this turns out. I'm not holding my breath though. All this from a seller with a 98.6% positive review. Awesome.
Whats his ebay handle? Ill shoot him a question regarding delivery as If Im interested and see how it plays out.
Mine was delivered by FEDEX, the driver said he tried to reject the delivery due to the size and weight of the crate. If you can find a number for your local UPS hub, you might be able to get some additional information. Another thing to try is signing up for a free account on UPS (think they call that My Choice), they will text or email you whenever a package is sent to your address. This comes in handy when an order has multiple shipments. Hope you can get this resolved ASAP!

If you can find a number for your local UPS hub, you might be able to get some additional information...As I've said, no support is currently being offered by UPS because of the virus, so calling the main hub near me (Which I just tried- I called the main customer service number before) doesn't help. You'll just waste 10+ minutes on the phone for an automated system to tell you to pound sand.
they look legit.. 21000 transactions.. the few negative feedbacks i read only one seemed to be delayed shipping..The " private listing " on the feeback is BS , of course we need to know what these people bought to form an opinion.. I dont care about someones feedback on hair curlers if im buying a stump grinder.
well all shipping is messed up right now.. So id open a case with them the minute ebay allows it.. Take it from there.. No matter what , you will either get the lathe , the money , or the money and keep the tool box (-'
they probably sent it out on a lift gate truck , and the local ground guys simply said " no " .. i didnt check the weight , but its a crate item .
when i got my 9by 19 grizzly , i had to drive to the depot and get it on the back of a pickup , they said my street was too narrow
