That looks it is a form of a Baikal Mp-61.
Imagine that, the Chinese knocking off a Russian design, maybe this one has a safety.

Now I need to get it for her.

I got mine from Mike many years ago...the accuracy is quite surprising! I cant think of a better first rifle for a young shooter...easy to cock and very simple to work on should that need arise. Have Mike massage the trigger...its worth the extra little bit.

Scott, I am very happy with mine. It has become my primary Hosp/Starling gun and it is simply awesome. I use H&N Sport wadcutters because I have plenty on hand and it is deadly accurate. I find it shoots RWS super domes well, too. I have been told by uglymike that the jsb 8.4 gr pellets work like a laser beam, but I don't have those on hand, but take his word for it. Ol' Deadeye will like the gun. You will too.

Well, she has been "politely" asking about it. "You Grand Pa the weather is starting to get nice..."
I finally got off my duff and called Mike M.
He never ceases to amaze me.
We chatted a bit about the gun, and who it was for, and why.
He was going to pick her out a nice one and breathe his magic into it.
I'll update when it arrives.

Got to see Mike with Flying Dragons at the Arkansas Airgun Show at the beginning of the month. Great guy. Bought a XS 12 from him while I was there and it is a great little gun. Straight out of the box needed very little break in. I have a couple of hundred pellets through it, accurate and smooth shot cycle. If I take it down at all it will be to smooth out the break over action. It sticks a little sometimes and has to be tapped to break over. Nothing a touch of moly wouldn't make right.
Anyway can't say enough about the rifle or the man that sold it, both top drawer.
