Some chrono numbers from the Stoeger X20

I had been going from the data from &^%$# eBook on the gun so far, at least for Crosman Premier Light (CPL) pellets. (900-950 fps)
I also needed to know some numbers from other pellets, and from the CPL in my specific gun. Now that I have them, I thought I'd post them here for others' reference. These numbers will also work for the Stoeger X10, since it has the same internals. This gun is based on a BAM gun I think, so they may work for that gun too.
Pellet Muzzle Velocity (fps)
Beeman Laser, 7.1 gr. 968
JSB Exact, 8.4 gr. 880
Beeman Kodiak, 10.65 gr. 783
Crosman Premier Light, 7.9 gr. 918
Crosman Premier HP, 7.9 gr. 922
H&N FTTP*, 8.8 gr. 864
JSB Exact RS, 7.3 gr. 926
Beeman Pointed, 8.3 gr. 876
As a point of reference, the gun is spec'd for 1000 fps with lead pellets and 1200 fps with alloy.
* FTTP = Field Target Trophy Power, copper-plated

Nice refference. I'll toss in a few #'s I've gotten from my stock x20s in .22. It's not comprehensive but representitive of what the gun will do.
Pellet wt (gr) Average velocity (FPS)
Beeman Silver Bear 12.65 742
Cross Prem HP 14.3 701
Beeman Crow Mag HP 18.3 582
AirArms Falcon 13.43 718

my x20 .177 with jsb exact 8.4 was averaging 916-925 for around 16 fpe! not bad for a 130$ rifle

The velocity of the kodiaks is most impressive IMO. I never tried them in my x10, but it looks like im gonna. Which pellet is most accurate from your rifle?

@Bob P: Crosman Premier Lights have been the most accurate for me. It was a happy surprise, as they're not at all expensive, compared to the match grade German pellets. JSB Exact were also very good, as were RWS Superdome and Meisterkugeln. (which I didn't chrono yet) I wouldn't call my accuracy testing conclusive yet though, as it has been from 10 yards, leaning against a nightstand, with the rifle rested on my knee.
The Kodiaks are interesting, because they don't start out as fast, but they retain their energy well. They pretty routinely have the highest retained energy at longer distances, I think due to their hybrid point shape. They're domed, but kind of a pointy dome. I see this as a good option on larger or tougher small game, such as raccoons, out to 50 yards.
On the other hand, it takes a bit more work to learn their trajectory, since they're slower from the muzzle.
It's also worth noting that there's two weights of Kodiaks: 10.2 and 10.65 gr. The 10.2s may be an even better option for these guns.
I just tried the Kodiaks out of curiosity, because I saw they had the highest retained energy in straightshooters.com testing pretty consistently. They seem to be designed more for the magnum class guns that shoot lighter pellets supersonic: these would stay subsonic, and keep a lot of their energy. For instance, I bet the X50 or a Crosman XL1500 would shoot the Kodiaks at about the same speed as our guns would shoot CPLs.
What would be really interesting would be to put these in a high-powered PCP gun that is rated for something like 1300 fps. A heavy, efficient pellet like this would be perfect to bring that velocity down a couple hundred fps, but still have a nice flat trajectory.

The tip of the crosman hunting pellet is very similar to the kodiak but its only 7.4 gr. Wish my X10 liked them! I finished off the tin shooting them at 86 yrds & I gotta say I was very impressed by the trajectory & retained energy. When I did by chance connect with the bottom of a soda can, it would flip it end over end.
I cant add any of my own chrony figures because my 22 mag ate my chrony! But as far as accuracy goes, my x10 prefers the JSB RS over anything ive tried. It shoots pretty good with the cheapo Beeman Hp, AA domes, crosman destroyers(@ close range) & it was shooting the H&N FTT very well at first! but the last 3 tins I bought I had to send 2 back. Must be a quality control issue??
