Title: Off Season 10M Casual Match #1 Year 18/19 *Results added*
Post by: Hoosier Daddy on November 18, 2018, 03:37:18 PM
Unfortunately folks, we have not heard from JimQwerty123 in a while, hoping everything is OK with him and Susan.
I reached out to Marty2 and asked about this years match. As luck would have it, turns out I am going to give it a go hosting it this year. Let's see if I can fill Jim's shoes because he has always done a great job.
  So away we go!!!

Come one, come all. Casual Match 1 is open for business. The Casual Match is a fun match. Shoot whatever you want at 10M (more or less depending on what you have available), use any position or rest that you prefer. See below for the details.

Rules are the same as for the 50’ Casual Match, except distance is 10M instead of 50’, using the 50’ target of choice.  If you are  limited to distance, shoot at whatever distance you have available. Classes are PCP Rifle (includes any rifle except spring or nitro pistons), Piston Rifle, and Pistol. One entry may be made in each class.

The match will run through Sunday, 12/02/2018.

The 50’ rules and targets may be found at:

http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=114644.0 (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=114644.0)

Please include the following information with your entry:

Call name or real name
PCP, Jumper or Pistol Class
Air rifle or Pistol used
Sighting system
Pellet and caliber
Shooting position and/or aid(s)
Score

Shoot straight and be safe!

I normally shoot this target at 50 feet outdoors but the Stoeger is not loud for a jumper so I tried it up in my indoor range.
Looks like I need to work on my jumper shooting .  It may have been the coat I was wearing LOL.

Hey Jesse,
Those targets are quite humbling aren't they, especially with a Jumper.
It is always interesting watch the groups tighten up as the season goes on!
Keep up the good work!

Oh NO!
Please don't... typical of these matches is guys shoot targets at their leisure for two weeks then submit the best at the end... and they get better as the match progresses.
 Keep shooting!

I just shot my target.
I try to do better than my last match. Sometimes I will, sometimes I wont.
But I always enjoy it.

Some will cherry pick their best targets to post. I post the target I shot and try to improve on my next match.
In the end you are shooting  against yourself.

Oh I will probably post something, if it ever warms up.

Just sayin I could shoot 100 targets and still not beat that score :P

But that's okay it's just for fun.

Pistol Class
Crosman 1377
LPA sights
Crosman Competition 4.5 (unknown weight)
First I tried 2 handed, but that wasn't working well, so I put some bags on a ladder and had the pistol in the position shown with the forearm on the bag (and wondered if instead you're just supposed to rest the base of the grip).
151/200 no Xs

P.S. Hope I haven't done a multi-post.

Question. . . .what class does this rifle fall into?

Charlie, sorry for the late reply but here goes.
I too prefer that target when using peeps. The lines on the other target are too small for these old eyes and the black on the one you used is fine.
As far as what class your  Daisy 753 falls into, I believe since it is a SSP (Single Stroke Pneumatic) it would be a PCP, it is not a Springer (jumper), similar to how Co2 guns are classified as they do not have the torque / recoil issues of a spring (coil or gas) would have.

I did notice you shot two sheets with one shot on each bull, that is fine.... but the rules state you must pick the same bulls on both, as if you shot two on each bull.
Quote
5)(a) 2 shots at each of the 12 major bulls on the scoped sights targets, drop the lowest  2 scoring bulls for a total possible score of 200/200. Kinda like when the teacher would drop the lowest test score when figuring the final grade.  You may also shoot 1 shot at each of the 12 bulls on two 12 bull target sheets and post both sheets; however, you must drop the same two bulls on both target sheets.

I will keep this score since I was late catching it, but please drop the same two next time.

Hope that helps.

 . . .
Mr. Pumpintx,
when shooting air/rimfire/centerfire pistols from bag rest, you should rest your arm on the bag, not the gun. the area where the wrist meets the arm is where the front of the bag should be . . . the very back of the bottom of your hand should be in contact with the bag in order to give maximum support to the hand. this way, recoil will not be affected. you are doing it correctly, just try to let the bags support the hand as much as possible . . . you can shoot this way with either 1- or 2- handed.

keep up the good shooting !

Hoosier Daddy, Thanks for the feedback.  I will list the daisy in the PCP class, and will shoot two shots on each bull.  Sorry about that!!
I agree on seeing the lines.  Got old eyes here also, that is why I like a scope, BUT enjoy shooting a diopter sight.
This is fun and is good trigger time.
