Title: Shipping to Illinois
Post by: DonC on February 22, 2019, 01:36:06 PM
I bought a RWS34 from Cabellas for a great price. I had to hae it shipped to a BAGA shooting pal in Wisconsin because Cabellas would not ship to Illinois. This is the first time this has happened to me. I have bought and shippedprobably 100 airguns with no problem.  Why do some follow the bull@@#$ law and some don't?

I also live in Illinois and I had to have the Benjamin NP2 Trail I bought from Walmart delivered to the Walmart store in Morganfield, Kentucky for me to pickup. No delivery to my house or even to the closer local Walmart in Illinois. I cannot buy from any of the online stores like Cabellas, Pyramid, etc. - Real PITA. The local Illinois Walmart gun department employee said there is a limit of 600 FPS on air guns to be available for pickup at the Illinois Walmart, but you can buy firearm shotguns and rifles there, no pistols. I do not understand this logic...

I had to have my NP2 Trail delivered to an FFL dealer from AGD.  That added $30 to the price.
My 2400KT was delivered to my daughter in Colorado and she shipped it to me.

Walmart won't even ship to store CO2 cartridges.

However, Field Supply shipped my RWS34 straight to me, as did AOA with my 2 Brococks.

DonC,

I grew up in Woodridge.  Darien had the closet McDonald's, so we would ride our bikes there and swim in Bruce Lake afterwards.

I just went through that. AoA shipped me a .22 850 airmagnum no problem when no one else would. I tried to get a .22 Gauntlet and no one would ship it. I could go through a FFL dealer but I did not want to deal with that. So I called pyramyd air after they stopped my order and they could ship a .177 so I had them do that. If this state could figure out how to tax us on airguns on top of other taxes they would do that.

I grew up near you in Morris. I attend the Sandwich Fair every year.
By the way, Ogden Ave or RT34 goes from Lake Michigan all the way to the Colorado Rocky Mountain Park in Estis. I drove it once on a motorcycle. Kindy like a mini Route 66 2 lane highway.
Go to Bristol Wisconsin BAGA club some Saturday and shoot with a bunch of great guys. I also belong to Hickory Hills Rod and Gun in Plainfield.
Also I live a stones throw from Bruce Lake.

They need to READ the updated law.. Over .18 caliber OR over 700 FPS ..  so you can get a .50 if it is under 700 fps.. .177 has no fps limit..

There are a few retailers that will ship to Illinois . I won't name them here but the smaller shops usually will ship to you're door . I have a krale puncher breaker sitting at a relatives in East Tennessee that I bought from pyramyd on Black Friday because it was on sale at a really good price . Just didn't want to hassle with going through an FFL for it . But I'm about to order a impact from Utah airguns and have already set everything up at point blank in Harrisburg so it can be shipped there but it's still a hassle living in this state with the ignorant laws we have

Those of us living in New York share your frustration. Walmart will not ship to your door or your nearest Walmart store, even though they sell any number of air rifles and pistols IN those stores and obviously have to ship them to get them there.

When I questioned a Walmart customer service rep and his supervisor on it, they said they didn't understand why either as they knew the few zipcodes in the New York City area that don't allow shipping of anything airgun related to them, but it was the company's policy at that time not to ship anywhere in New York to avoid potential issues.

The only thing airgun related I've bought from them since was a pair of Beeman P17 pistols I found on a shelf in one of my local stores clearance priced at $20 each.

From the early 70's up until 2015 any rifled air pistol .177 caliber or larger we were required to get a permit to purchase just like a regular handgun, I'm sure glad it was changed, it was a very idiotic law.  Even in Walmart and the supermarkets today a person has to be 18 years or older to purchase co2 cartridges which is another crazy law.  Heck when I was in 7th grade I bought a bolt action PB from a mathmatics teacher with only a note from my parents. ???

I still have that gun that I bought from him.  It's a Ranger 8)
