Where to shoot near Metairie.

So we just moved to LA from GA and I'm looking for a place to shoot other than inside my own home.  The nearest range is Jefferson but they don't allow airguns.  Looking to meet / meet up with other folks from this forum for educational purposes too.  May as well also throw out there that I'd also like some guidance on which WMAs would be good for on foot small game hunting. Thanks in advance, folks!

Welcome to the forum from another Louisiana member, moved from AZ tho... Down here in the Houma area I've been limited to shooting in the back of the in-laws yard. The house we're buying will have a garage conducive to indoor shooting and luckily yard enough for outdoors if the neighbors don't mind. However, from what I hear, the range near here (a police-sponsored training range) wont allow AGs either...

So, besides personal property (when available) I'm not real sure what's out there for us AGers. Hopefully some of the other 10 or so LA members I've seen will chime in with more info...

Btw, good luck w/ Mardi Gras! Hope you're not near any parade routes. It gets crazy!

Pearl River WMA, AKA Honey Island has a fantastic outdoor range with a 25 yard pistol range and 100 yard rifle range.  It's also a great area for small game hunting with plenty of foot access.  The only problem is the entire area is closed due to flooding from the Pearl River.

Welcome to Louisiana and GTA. I'm up in NE Louisiana. I'm fortunate enough to live on 40 acres of woods in a WMA. I'm building a 100 yard shooting range on it. It is still rough at the moment, but I enjoy shooting in my back yard. I'm to far from you for a casual drop-by, but if your ever in NE Louisiana give me a shout.
