I have an original-version FX Crown that has developed a very slow leak. Can anyone recommend someone, preferably in WI or the Midwest though I can ship it anywhere, who does good work on FX guns these days?

I would reccomend just sending to fx usa out of North Carolina.  I understand you want something in the Midwest and maybe a reputable shop from there will chime in, but fx usa is great to deal with and obviously know these guns the best.  Just my .02

FX USA sounds good and safe to me as well.  I always rebuild my Impact and other guns in my signature list because I don't trust shipping.  I figured out that after the air is out, they are just bolts and O-rings.  I had fun learning my guns during the process of fixing the leaks.   They are really not that hard to work on when taking it slow and being careful.

Sounds good.  I guess I wasn't encouraging enough.  FWIW:  I didn't know anything about PCPs when I dove into mine either.  It's all good.

They’re easy to repair but there are small details that you need the answer for right away when assembling or disassembling late at night that only a tech would know then your stuck with a gun disassembled at 11pm. That’s why I usually just send my guns in. I’ll do simple things but total disassembly =no thank you

I agree it does take time and patience's to take apart an unfamiliar gun.  Rebuilding my .357 Slayer was quit the challenge especially when repairing the retractable probe assembly.  I finally figured out how to get the assembly apart.  The engineering in that area is amazing.  My FX Impact wasn't as bad but definitely had some complexity to it.  I would still rather fix my Impact than my Marauders.  Even though the Marauders are very basic the Impact is easier to work on, IMO.

What's funny is I was absolutely scared to death to even take the one stock screw out of Marauder in my humble beginnings, so I can certainly relate to someone that feels this way.  That's why I said previously that once the air is out, they are just screws and O-rings.  Which is comforting and true, but you still have to know enough to be safe when letting the air out especially when one is regulated.
