I used pond liner. It's thinner, has excellent compressive strength but little elasticity. Cheap too. Sold in Garden Centers by the foot. You don't need much.The (heavily tuned) Phantom I used it in shoots minute of angle. I can't say the bedding made all the difference, but it seemed to contribute to the gun's performance.I also put a disc of it in front of the top hat. It might be my imagination, but it seems to attenuate the recoil a little. The installation method I used is the same as you mentioned. I crazy-glued full-length 1/4" wide strips to the stock, not the action.I recently had to replace the spring in that same gun after many thousand shots. The pond liner installation held up and needed no repair.Hope this helps. Cheers!
