Installing gas spring body into piston adds more moving mass to piston. How this affects your rifles performance is difficult to predict. Easier to just try it.As long as there is no interference with trigger parts or cocking shoe and both gas spring ends are held centered in good axial alignment (NO side loading on gas spring shaft) either mounting configuration will work. Which one works better for you will require testing (velocity & accuracy). You stated gas spring body and piston are in contact sometimes during movement. How bad?A lightly polished spot on gas spring body? Wouldn't bother me at all. I'd rub a little moly paste on the area to minimize future wear.HEAVY WEAR and metal shavings from gas spring body? I'd be very concerned. Something is too far out of alignment. I'd try to find the cause and eliminate the problem.
I believe I have read about you installing spring's to replace gas ram's.I would like to buy a Gamo spring guide for this Wildcat but can't find one.Do you make yours or know where to buy it?

I have one Gamo that I detuned a few years ago. The guides I make now may not fit that style Gamo. Look through here for ideas.https://michaeljbernard.wordpress.com/Willing to assist but not certain I'll be much help on a rifle i'm not familiar with.
So I changed the position of the ram.I turned down the piston end to fit the trigger assembly and used plastic from a 2 liter bottle to sleeve the piston to get a snug fit for the ram body.I check velocity and it is about 10 fps lower.I had installed a snug fit piston seal to calm the harsh shot cycle.I shot 2 groups and Wow.Before it shot inch and half now it's half inch at forty yards.
