I run a black one, similar size, full of molecular seive. I don’t understand why tuxing uses the outboard of threads oring. The one I have uses inboard orings. Where you live is drier than here so you wouldn’t have to replace/regenerate the seive very often. Dave
I would opt for the one that has only molecular sieve, as that is the main thing needed to remove moisture, the carbon just make the air smell clean.https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805171873608.html?
I don't use those large filters at all.. In my opinion they just add volume for the compressor to have to fill. I use the ones that are around 1 1/2" diameter and 3 - 4" long and check them often for moisture.I do use a lager black one for the MKII filling tanks but it's not quite as big as the gold one... It came from MrodAir and had carbon and sieve in it... I took all that out and put regular filters in it.I have seen the sieve and carbon break down/crumble. I don't want any of that in my guns and tanks.YMMV
Come to think of it Matt, the short one with seive would probably work fine for your Yong heng where you live. The air is generally pretty dry there, isn’t it?Dave
I may be wrong but here is my take on sieve....Yes, sieve is reported to remove moisture from the air and little packets of it are often included in packing for shipping but, we're talking about compressed air in motion.I could see it if the air remained in a vessel and the sieve would have time to absorb the moisture but this is air that is passing through. Is the air really exposed to the sieve long enough for moisture to be absorbed?Like I said, I may be wrong... don't beat me up n junk...
I only know I change my seive when it becomes noticeably wet. Seive doesn’t change color, so to speak. With only cotton type filters, I get moisture in my guns. With seive, I don’t. Dave
