I put together my stubby 2240 today after getting all the pieces. I've switched the drilled out tombstone back to the blade since the photo was taken.
Had a case of "the Mondays" this morning, so I decided to cheer myself up by punching some holes in my plinking pots using my most powerful springer, a Hatsan 135 Vortex. I adjusted the trigger a smidge and found it easier to cock and shoot than I remembered - until the sheer weight of the air rifle made me decide to come back inside and look around for a lighter airgun for this afternoon's shooting.

I've switched the drilled out tombstone back to the blade since the photo was taken. That's one cool-looking 2240!What are all the mods you made to it?-WThe steel breech is ambidextrous and I got it and the Don Cothran front sight holder from Rick67, and he also sent the brass sear adjuster with a nice spring (not pictured)Front sight is a .500" tall High Viz sight for a muzzle loaderThe power adjuster is from this link https://www.ebay.com/itm/201940203407The barrel is 5 5/8" long with a flat like the OEM, magnetized bolt, and a rear breech cap (not pictured) from Alliance Hobby. I could have gone to 5 1/2" and still kept the muzzle behind the cap, but I wanted to be safe. With a powerlet inserted and the cap screwed in the sight holder sits just a few thou short of the cap. I set it flus with the cap initially, but I didn't have a powerlet in the tube. With gas in the gun the cap sits just a touch proud of the muzzle, like a vintage Crosman 150, 600, etc. And that's it. My chronograph does not like the CO2 blast, so I have no idea what the velocity is. I turned the power adjuster out until POI started dropping, which is four turns from flush. Initially I tried using the tombstone sight drilled out to 1/8", but I don't like how much of my target is obscured by the sight ring. It was accurate, but not a quick target acquisition like I wanted. I think the LPA MIM sight would be a nice upgrade, but I would also then need a Crosman steel breech rather than the one I have. I could have actually stuck with the factory plastic breech, but I wanted left hand cocking. In fact I prefer the cam-over effect on the plastic breech a lot better than my ambi breech. I'm going to keep it like so for a while until I decide if I like it this way or not. So far it shoots great and I can hit a can at 30' every time. The Alliance barrel is much better than my OEM which had deep lateral scratches up and down the bore. I was making some one hole groups with a clamping rest. With the gun in a rest it shoots dead on, but with me behind it I have to use a 6 oclock hold to get the appropriate POA. I actually prefer this in a pistol so I can see what I'm aiming at. I could probably have gotten a shorter front sight, but I wanted to be sure it would work with the relatively tall OEM sight. Bill (Avator) measured the sight height on his stubby 2240 wearing a Disco front sight. Initially I was going to blue the breech and front sight holder, but now I kind of like the plain steel look. This gun is going to be on me any time I'm outside, so maybe a fancy finish and shiny parts are not the right option. This gun is definitely going to be my beater, and I'll probably tote it with me when I'm carrying my medium and large game guns in case I see a squirrel or something. I could see myself getting a second 2240 and going crazy with the parts.
They are fun, simple and rewarding builds.

The Huma Regulator is in the AEA Challenger 30 .Air Tube and 150 pumps later at 1100psi.It's been about 3 hours and holding steady, but will check tomorrow.I've been all over the internet for "alternate" hammer springs . What was in my Challenger;AEA Challenger Hammer SpringOD = 0.80 20mmLength = 3.33 84mmWire D = 0.065 1.65I'm guessing some choices from .04 to .08 wire diameter could give me enough options to not have to shim.Anybody got anything like that in a spares pile please pm me?Leaning towards NSA 54.5'shttps://www.pyramydair.com/product/nsa-300-cal-54-5-grain-140ct-30-7-62mm-grey?p=2243Experience/opinions welcome....

I would look into making a hammer spring adjuster for that AEA, the OE rear plug can be drilled and tapped to make one fairly easy.
