Here is a Little poem I wrote while sitting at anchor in Queen Charlotte Sound. Don't worry there won't be too many of them but it is fun writing them even though they are not literary wonders. Here we go off to playI think we'll cross Cook Strait todayWind 25 knots from north west Rough blue water not the bestDeep reef the mainTo ease the strain Tack at Mana heading north Gaining weather gauge by forceNow back on track and heading westBuilding sea the frothy beastWind and tide are both opposedWave crests forming not reposedThe little boat swoops and divesSails and mast wave at the skiesBrothers Island we pass to southGetting calmer at Queen Charlottes mouthAround the cape of KomaruOur course so far has been trueThe foaming waves washed the deckA bit of spray went down the neckCook’s Cove is coming into sightA pleasant place to spend the night.
