Title: First attempt 150m (164 yd)
Post by: Pandur_HR on December 03, 2018, 08:25:25 AM
My first submit on 150m (164yd). 3 hit the 4 MOA circle. 2 missed.

Rifle: Gamo G-Magnum 1250 Mach1 IGT .22
Scope: Hawke Sidewinder 30 6.5x20-42 Tactical
Pellet: JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy Diabolo 18gr

Shooting position.

Target at 150m (placed at large white plywood) you can see it on a third bank. I place it low, explenation at the end.

Target. I don't have A3 printer. So I printed on A4 1:1 ratio and then draw 4 MOA for 150m.

Target analysis

This is why I placed target low, and change the shooting line. Angle is soo high that the pellet hit wooden structure before the target. See the picture.

I am going to have an issue on 200m. I will have to do it from prone position, if possible even then.

Video of last two hits. First is the bottom one, that you can see. The second one is, I belive, one the edge of a target. You can hear the sound of pellet impact.
Video quality is very bad, I was focused on shooting. I did not pay attention on camera.

You can see more targets. Middle one I am aiming. I left targets from 25m, 50m and 100m. It is easier for me to see misses, plywood is destroyed by pellets. Today I was sopuse to preapare all for 150m attempt. But I hit already today.

Good shooting Ivan. I upgraded you on the yardage but you still qualify as a member on the list. Keep trying I sure you'll be able to move up in divisions on the list.

I will try to upgrade divison. But now I am more courios up to which distance I can go. With 200m I have a problem, 4th bank is higher, and POI drop  is double more than  on 150m. Prone I will not do before warm weather.

And I am setting up some parameters. For example every 50m I have to move POA for 1MOA (4clicks) to the right. Pellet spin drift or drift mixed with missalignement, I am still investigating.

On this target it is obvious I moved to much. I had some slight wind, so I moved total 14 clicks to right (3.5 MOA).

And the rifle is still braking in (700 pellets shot), it is still not fully stable. I have +- 9 FPS muzzle velocity. 19 FPS min to max (with clean barrel before ledding with few dozen pellets). And I can feel that on long range.

How much pellet spin drift you have?

I belive I didn't perfectly aligned Hawke scope shims (with level gauge tool), difference is hard to messure, visual apperance is aligned.
I placed additional anti slip tape (took from Gamo mounts) to protect the scope from slipping and damage, which makes alignement difficult, but it protect the scope. I can live with that, as long as scope is protected.

Ivan, this is exciting stuff. A springer shooting groups out to 164 yards!   8)   Very cool!
Keep it up!
I need to get out to the range to attempt the 100 yards soon!
