I had some of this carbon fiber and found a place to put it on my airgun.
The glue is rubberized CA - super glue. I cut the strip to fit with scissors.
It's flexible until glued, then it's solid as a rock when dry. Anyway, I figured it was better than having my roller on wood. Another strip is going in at a right angle to that one on the sidewall.
Hopefully reducing wood particulate buildup in the roller, and reducing friction.
Yes, It's flat, the pics seem to make it look like a roller coaster.
Oh, Storm XT stock.

Cocking linkage meets compression tube.
Last night I put a strip of CF on the compression tube under the cocking linkage.
Don't try this at home, all experimental.
Doh, I kinda made a mess with the install, CA got all over during the tape-down/drying.
Keep in mind, this is a $54 Storm.

You know it David. Another addiction....RC Airplanes, Heli's...son has a car. Mostly use this kinda stuff on 3D electric foam planes for it's killer strength and ultra lightweight.
Of course it would be cool to have a carbon fiber tubed shroud on one of my cheap AG's, but $forget$ about it.
I diddled more with the Storm today. Fabricated a soda bottle (tennis ball tube plastic actually) piston liner, more polishing and hand-spanking of each component. The usual polished washers, except one of them is polished brass rather than stainless. All stock tophat/guides. (filled the rear guide tube with duct seal.)
This particular home tune is being done with what I consider to be a minimum level of lube(s).
Sparingly lubed with JM moly & JM clear, assembled. Unlike previous tune, zero heavy tar. The tune just previous to this I used a little more moly and heavy tar on the spring. Yet to shoot'er.

Yep carbon fiber aint cheap. Since i also fly rc planes and have gone thrue a couple of foamies. I knew you flew planes though because you caid CA instead of super glue. But thats a good idea using it to keep wood out of roller.

Alan,
I'm not sure if a brass washer will survive in there. While researching springer tuning I asked about bronze washers and was warned by someone that tried them that they will break.

Did some shooting with the home-tuned Storm today. Fairly solid shot-cycle, some twang.
Thanks for the heads-up. I too have heard of brass cracking or breaking, figured it was easy enough to test, not much harm to be done if it does break in my case.
Something is causing it to "torque" when fired, barely noticable before teardown.
I suspect it may be drag between the piston liner and spring. (my first)
But then I did eliminate the SS washer that I had previously put in front of the tophat in the piston.
Tear-down time.
Will try it without the piston liner.

i would put that ss washer back if its polished and the brass or copper washers under the spring will not survive thanks david
