Replacement Trigger for Hatsan Striker 1000x
«

I did a long shooting session with my new Striker 1000X today and was very pleasantly surprised in terms of accuracy. Even with the crummy trigger I was getting 3/8 inch (and smaller) groups at 25 yards without much trouble. Very promising!
But speaking of that trigger.. I have read of a home trigger mod entailing replacing the trigger adjust screw with a longer one, but I have also heard good things about the Welsh Willy trigger. Is Woodfield GCP still making them? I don't see any triggers listed for a Striker on their website and they have not been responsive via email. If not the Welsh Willy trigger, is there a great alternative?
Many thanks,
Kevin

My research so far is showing that the Welsh Willy trigger is the only option for the Striker, and the company won't have any available until the end of August - well darn..So it's off to Lowe's for me today to get a longer trigger adjust screw.
Other than the trigger I am really impressed with the Striker! I did the $10 for 10 pre-ship test deal that Pyramid Air offers and they really honored my request to ship me a nice rifle. The grain pattern of the wood stock is quite good. Soon I'll be doing a refinish project on that stock which will consist of:
- removing the goofy looking checkering;
- using chromium dioxide to give the grain pattern more contrast;
- applying an alcohol-based stain as necessary;
- finishing with Lin-Speed, my favorite of all the wood finishing products I have used over the years.
I'll post photos of the project as I have it underway.

Kevin,
I did the Welsh Willy trigger replacement and it was a huge improvement. I really like it. It took about 15 minutes to replace. And the guy was very pleasant to deal with, very helpful. I'd check back with them and get one when available.

Hey Lostcoast,
I would be very
cautious
about refinishing the Striker 1000X!! Unless Hatsan changed the wood they use on it (not Walnut), their finish job looks about as good as it can (granted they could have sanded it better). When I sanded mine, I realized the wood has no color and was a cheap piece light weight (balsa like) wood. The wood doesn't take stain well (blotches) and True-oil or Lin-Speed oil will look OK but, underwhelming. Not worth your time vs. OEM.
The Striker trigger SUX, definitely buy the after market one when available.
These two reasons alone are why I recommend the Hatsan 95 vs. the Striker 1000X any day of the week.
With the price of the after market trigger alone, you could have bought the 95.
The only thing the Striker does better is weigh less
.
Good Luck

Thanks for the reply, gentlemen.
SpriralGroove, I realize that I could have bought a 95 for not much more and had a better trigger and walnut wood. However weight was a very big consideration for me in choosing the Striker, and I have no regrets. I'll probably still refinish the stock but not right away. The chromium dioxide acid stain I use can do some remarkable things with non-remarkable wood...
This rifle is really accurate! I was hitting bottle caps at 50 yards with no trouble this evening..
I have a question regarding scope bases but I will ask that in a new thread.

Hey Kevin,
With accuracy like that, don't let her go
Good luck with the stain, I've never tried that stuff; wait until she get nicked good before you experiment.
Mine looked very nice, but I thought I could remove some of the scratches Hatsan left behind. I did, but what a can of worms, almost as bad reassembling its Trigger -> I'm still trying to (for God's sake don't take it apart). Shoot us a photo when you have a chance.

If you still need it I can source a custom trigger blade from brazil, there's 2 companies selling them here:
here is the stock vs custom trigger pull force:
