... if I pump the rifle before cocking, air doesn't pressurize; it sounds like air passes right through the rifle. However, if I cock first, air pressurizes without any problem....
Did you replace or modify the valve spring or hammer spring when you rebuilt it?
Sounds like the new outlet seal is still forming to the seat. The hammer spring is probably pushing the seal open.I’d try storing it under pressure for a few hours. Worst case, you’ll have to cock it before you can charge/shoot it
I realize this is old post. Since it's relevant to my gun, I thought I'd ask here. At quick check, it appears that the advertisers at top of screen do not sell rebuild kits. Does anyone have suggestions for my Crosman 2280?Is ABairguns still inexistence? They have not responded to my e-mail. Same for Alchemy Airwerks.

Crosman is ALWAYS your cheapest source.........Or, you could just sell it to me...........I love those rifles!
Tony,I have rebuilt many Model 1 rifles........The wear parts are the same as for the 2100...........valve stem, check valve, valve spring, valve O-rings..internal and external, piston cup, TP seal,I make a replacement bolt for the Model 1 and 2200 with a brass probe and poly O-ring, if you need one.... ps...I don't know when you last talked to Crosman, bur with their computer system they can generally tell you when an obsolete part # has been replaced with a new number......... I'm just sayin.....
Thanks for the level headed answers. After asking This oil question, I did some surfing. I didn't realize I dove into one of those super debatable questions. I'll probably open it up today. Not sure I have to take the Stock off but on some other gun videos, they start there. Thanks again

Thanks againIf you have a Model 1, you need to loosen the thru bolt in the butt stock in order to separate the receiver halves.........I believe it its a large screw driver slotted head bolt.....Removing the stock is no big deal at that point. Just make sure the bolt plate is in place before closing up the receiver.AND....don't forget the little forearm detent plastic circle in the front...............(ask me why I say that........)
