Modding a Nitro Trail NP for more FPS, possible?

Hello all, first time posting here. I recently purchased a Benjamin Nitro Trail NP from the local Mills Fleet Farm for busting ground squirrels and blackbirds around the garden. For $189 it was too good a deal to pass up. I installed a GRT III trigger (amazing improvement in shootability, btw) and have been hitting ground squirrels from the upper level of our house out to 40 yards now with Crosman .22 cal hollowpoints, so the accuracy is definitely there.
I got a chance to chrono it today, and found that the 14.3 gr pellets are only averaging 725 fps for 5 shots. Low of 710 fps, high of 748 fps.
The box says 950 fps, which I originally thought was with lead pellets. I now find out that only alloy pellets generate this velocity, and they are lightweight and more expensive. So, is there anyone out there that has found a way to modify the Nitro Trail NP to generate a bit more velocity? I'd love to break the 800 fps mark if possible.
Thanks!

I was considering the XL, and did handle both of them in the store. I preferred the Trail NP though due to the lighter weight and synthetic stock. I really do love shooting this rifle, I just wish it was a tad more powerful. I shot a crow in my tomatoes last week and it managed to run off into the neighbor's cornfield despite a solid hit. I felt horrible about that, even though it was just a crow. When I shoot something, the least I can do is make sure the death is humane and quick.
Perhaps a pointed pellet would help more than adding another 100 fps of velocity?

i have had quite a few critters get away from me despite solid hits. heck, i had a nutter, headshot, just to low... passed through nasal cavity and didn't hit anything vital. when i injure something, i make a huge effort to find it. and end it. it happens. what pellets are you using? the cheap crossman premier hollow points do very well out of my guns.... as far as kills are concerned.

Hmmmm.
Nick, I believe your Trail NP should be giving you at least another 100fps.
Could be the dreaded - yet all too common - factory damaged piston seal.

Nick, I just did a quick search of fleet farm, and they didn't show anything as far as airguns go. One of the routes I go for work puts me past ff up by Oshkosh WI. Would that be the "local" store you might be refering to?

It also depends on the altitude you are at. I was surprised at how much FPS I loose at my altitude. Just driving down to Phoenix I gain a lot of speed with the gun, can't say the same for the old body

750 with 14gr pellets sounds right, and should be plenty for small game, don't get pointed pellets rather more wide hollowpoints,....or get the NP XL, 900 fps with the 14gr, I shoot the 18gr and it's just deadly

Disregard my bunk info above! I should have double-checked before letting my fingers run amuck on the keyboard. The pirate is on the money.
Thanks.

i want to check if the walther talon NP is the same diameter and such as the Titan... if it is... that might be an easy way to get more power... but thats a GUESS... and nothing more.

sshewins, nope the local Mills Fleet Farm for me is Lakeville, MN. Gotta love the farmer's mall, everything from chicken feed to power tools to AK-47's
