This coming Sunday, there are two clubs in NorCal hosting Field Target Events:
The Sacramento Field Target club will be running a competitive match in Ione, Ca.
It's a good venue, with overhead cover- a great choice for those preparing for Oregon -> July 20-22nd Oregon State Championship, in Ashland, OR.
We'll be running a fun match, an alternative for those who may want to dip their toes into the Airgun waters, try out a new gun, or just enjoy a relaxing event. Our rules for this one match will encourage great scores and the targets will be a little more forgiving than we normally provide.
The USI Waiver must still be signed online (one time) prior to the match and USI Blue cards in possession.
Eye protection is a must, all pellet (only pellet) guns limited to .22 cal and under, as well as a maximum of 20 ft/lbs of energy maximum.
I have more specifics available at our Airgun Blog-
https://diablorodandgun.com/community/airgun/fun-field-target-match-coming-up-sunday-july-15th/#post-10
If you would like to use the club gun, please let me know in advance.
Diablo members are only $10 and guests are $15 for the match- we welcome new competitors, so this could be the perfect opportunity for you to see what the fun is all about!
Setup at 8:30, Safety Briefing at 9:00 and practice at 9:15 am. You must attend the safety briefing to compete. We'll provide some light snacks and water- the match could run for 3 hours, so bring sunscreen and hat.
Love to see you there!

Results!
We had a great time, 8 shooters. Two shooters came out to see what it was all about and were promptly handed the club marauder. They came bringing three "gamo-ish" springers, nice enough shooters, but the club gun had the right scope, dialed in for the various ranges and a dope card. They were quite impressed with the simplicity, and effectiveness of a dialed in PCP. They didn't shoot the match, but shot paper and quadrants at various distances. The smiles showed that they enjoyed themselves. Hey, the first taste is free, right?
We had another first time Diablo shooter, with an Air Arms S510, who impressed with his consistency. We'll have to keep an eye on him, he made it look too easy.
The range did have a 53 yard target, but we dialed it in for fun. Rules included: best of three shots recorded. (Three attempts, if needed, per target, recording 2 max).
5 forced positions, but either kneeling or standing permitted. Also, an arbitrary lane would be designated as the Daily Double. Scores in that lane were doubled. A friendly visitor picked the number 7, a 3 target forced lane. It was both a great boon for some and a "meh" doubler for others. The smallest KZ was 1", with the majority of holes 1.5". Yep, we broke out the pie plates!
Here's the scores- remember, although there was a possible, conventional score of 42, we did have a Daily Double- option.
Two first time pistol shooters, yours truly included, found that if the hole is big enough, it's possible to knock 'em down.

That scoring system was really a lot of fun (Dang, I missed the second shot... Oh wait, I get another chance–hot "dang", this is cool.)

That definitely sounds like a FUN match. I bet the new shooters and observers appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and that should get them to come back. Still, it sounded plenty challenging for the veterans as well. I wish I could have been in two places at once or that the dates hadn't overlapped. Nice shooting all of you!
