Accurate, powerful, light, great trigger, self contained. If I had to vote for greatest air rifle of all time that would be it!They may not still make them, but you can still buy them. If it's a rifle you want, consider talking to 19Sheridan57 who posted right above you. He usually has leads on where you can find one for a decent price and may even have one he'd be willing to sell you. Great guy and someone I consider a good friend I haven't met yet.

If he is looking to build a homestead or survive, he wants the best answer. Sometimes, the best answer is not a given option. The OP mentioned homesteading. I can tell you from eight years of experience that an air gun has definite advantages over both a .22 rimfire and a .410 shotgun in a homestead situation. It’s quiet. Doesn’t disturb the neighbors or game animals. I can shoot at night without noise or muzzle flash.Limited range. I’ve got neighbors a few hundred yards away. I can’t be shooting even a .22 rimfire in the direction of my neighbors property. But I can safely shoot several of my air rifles in pretty much any direction without worry that an errant pellet will carry all the way to the neighbors.Discrete. When I miss the target often doesn’t even know it has been shot at. That gives me a chance for a second shot that I would not get with a PB. Our chickens had become inured to the sound of the pellet gun and didn’t even notice me shooting around them.My airguns are varmint and small game guns. They serve quite well as dispatch guns for snared game too. It’s simply a question of using the right tool for the task. In my situation a PB is TOO MUCH GUN for most jobs.Rather have a balanced battery like a bag of good golf clubs.

Actually, a .22LR using subsonic, shorts or CB can be much more quiet than an unmoderated airgun. And have about the same range. In fact I have some 60 gr. subsonic that is slower than my Synrod. Oh, and NEVER play the old guy walking around the course with a 7 iron and a putter!!!
