I don't know if it fits your needs, but Crimson Trace is a very nice scope.. Japanese glass and made there...
I just got an Athlon Argos BTR 10-40×56 Gen 2 yesterday. I've only done some basic visual tests, haven't sent any pellets downrange with it yet, but so far it looks pretty good. I have targets set up at 25m, 50 yds and 100 yds behind the house and for shooting paper in daylight I think it will be just fine. Optics appear clear and sharp, turrets are pretty good, and the reticle is very fine (perfect for benchrest IMO). I have a few minor issues (windage turret zero is off slightly and AO knob range is off a bit) but I don't think those will be an issue for me. For just over $400 it's a pretty good deal.Edit: It's a second focal plane reticle, which I actually prefer for benchrest, so if you want FFP this wouldn't be an option.
