The places I go to find Vintage Air Rifles

Today I did not attend the lunch for a conference I am attending and set out instead to explore the local second hand store and pawn shops. I went into a really nice one and they had a few rifles and pistols. I walked out with a Beeman 250 (Diana Model 45, made March 1980) that had a scope and leather sling attached, a Daisy 717 and a Crosman 2240.
Later after no success at 3 others, idecided to give it one more try.
The last one I went to I almost did not stop for it was a really rundown pawn shop or dare I say a hoarders junkyard and not much for signs of life. I actually circled to location twice deciding what to do or not do because all I could think was I could end up as a missing person, then a little voice in my head said - and what do you think is going to happen when your wife finds out about your 3 new purchases. By the way she actually supports my hobby and says she would rather have me doing this than sitting in a casino or tavern.
That did it I decided to go inside hoping I actually made it out alive. I looked and crawled around, over and under stuff (for a moment I felt like a guest searcher on American Pickers). The old man who owned the place showed up and asked if I was looking for something in particular. I told him old air rifles if he had any and hoping he may have a Crosman 101 or 2, He said he did have a few air rifles in the back corner of the building but was not sure what they were.
Sadly the first 2 he handed me were BB guns one was a Crosman 760, it still had bb’s in it but did not hold air. The next one was a Crosman 66 this did not work. Neither of these interested me much, the last one he handed me was not a 101, but was one he said was just a Model 113. Holding It I looked all over for a manufacture stamp but it had nothing on it just the small print model 113 and a serial number. I told him I had never seen one like this before, and that looking at the trigger guard it was possibly a Crosman (trigger guard looked exactly like the ones used on Crosman 100, 101, 102 models).
I asked how much he wanted for it he told me $25.00 and please take the other 2 with it. Still don’t know much about the 113 but what I do know is it is a Crosman Bulk Fill Co2 gun made between 1950-55, has an almost blonde colored stock with not many dings just dirty, and looking at the parts diagram it was missing just one part, I found the part on-line and ordered it.
Next up will be finding a reasonably priced fill system and resealing it before using. As for the earlier purchases I know what I have there, but the last ones being the 760, 66 and the 113 I am still learning and am all eyes when it come to what others know about them.

Hmmm, been thinking about checking some pawn shops, you scored some real goodies there. I hope you enjoy your new treasures.

Excellent find, the 113. The Crosman bulk CO2 rifles are awesome. My 114 is the best shooter I have. Get a 20 ounce paintball tank and an 1/8" npt adapter, I think Mac1 has them. Resealing is not hard if it is necessary.

I have never had any luck in my travels to places like these. I like my odds this week at a Airgun Show! Saves a lot of gas and frustration. Lol

The 760 and 66 are not just " bb guns ", they will definitely shoot pellets as well.
Do the 66 have a metal receiver or plastic ?

Here in my area of Georgia any time i see a gun in a pawn shop it is a powder burner . Never an airgun. I asked a few of them and they don't buy them. They say they can't sell them no interest. But honestly of all the gun stores, pawnshops and big box stores around here I have spoken to workers and they have no clue about anything to do with airguns. They dont know anything exists beyond the store air guns like the gamo and ruger guns.most people I have spoken to at ranges and gun shops dont know what pcp rifles are at all and their potential accuracy. They'd rather sink 1000.00 into a ruger 10/22 and still be no where near the accuracy of a .22 pcp. They only know their glocks and ar's. Im not exaggerating .
I see it everywhere around here . On the other hand I have picked up a few vintage .22 rimfires in these same stores where they also are looked upon in dismay while i smile all the way home lol.

Bantam5s,
The 760 and 66 were made of plastic. I sold both of them this morning for $25.00 to a person attending the conference I am at as I really had no interest in them, but he did. All I know and care about is I made my money back for the last purchase made yesterday.

I stopped by a pawnshop a year or so ago and saw a B-3 with a sticker on it that said $45. I asked the uncle what he would take for it and he said “what it says on the price tag”. I haven’t seen another air gun in a pawnshop since. The lady at the Re-Store thrift store keeps an old 760 with a battered gold colored receiver behind the cash register to deter thieves but says she won’t take cash for it. Thinking about offering her my $19 Umarex 357 (Walmart closeout) as a trade.
