RS2 Gurus Question: Magnum SAG Beeman RS2 .22 with H&N .218 slugs?

Hi.
This question is for those who are Older and Wiser in the RS2:
Ben the Outdoors Airgunner shot nice 50 yard groups with the .22 Chief and the .22 Commander using h&n .218 23 grain slugs.
I suspect the .22 Beeman RS2 springer has the same bore as the .22 Chief and .22 Commander.
From old GTA posts, I see the magnum RS2 tophat is a quarterpounder (3oz!), which makes me think it has enough piston weight to shoot an h&n slug, in addition to having the right bore size.
The same posts tell me the magnum RS2 gives 27+ftlbs of muzzle energy, which seems more than enough to me, as well.
Q: Does this make a good argument for the RS2 as a slug shooter?
-Has anyone tried it?
Thank you,
Matthew

Matthew: the way a springer or a rammer creates the pulse of air is the reason slugs work better from pcp. Yes, it will shoot them, but the low volume/ high pressure of that powerplant wont push the pellet consistenly. a PCP in the other hand, with the high volume blast will keep pushing the pellet down the barrel more consistenly and should in theory launch a more stable projectile.
Glad to see you are still airgunning, pal.

The RS2 is a copy of the Norica Marvic. I have Norica's and would not bother will slugs in them. They just do not have the power. If slugs are anything like a Minie bullet then the hollow base has to open up to engage the rifling. A PCP may have enough energy to flare a slug but a springer does not. Aside from poor performance, the extra mass will wear out your spring quicker.

TF89 is also a copy of the Marvic. I've got a .177 Norica Black Eagle and a .22 Massimo. Same gun as a Marvic, different furniture. I've read slugs are not for springers.

I have the Black Eagle in .177 and also a Storm in .22. The Marvic has spawned many spin offs. However, they are all good guns.
