There are also 2 motels within 5 miles of the location....
Our little town has all the small town comforts. 2 Walmarts are around 20 miles away in 2 directions. The closest commercial airport is in Montgomery some 40 miles away.

I'm sure you won't be the only one with that issue Geoff. I think there are enough members in this area to support a gathering.
I don't think I could go more than 4 or 5 hours to attend one either.
My hopes would be to start a trend here of members in other areas trying to put something like this together.

The way things are going we may have more smaller regional fun shoots than one big one. I myself probably won't travel that far but if it is the location of an official fun shoot and I can do something to support it I will.

The original date was 15-17 May so as not to interfere with Mother's Day. I'll have to see, Teresa & I might make the 7-1/2 hour drive. Then go on further South to the coast for a few days.
Hmmm....

Highly feasible. I love primitive camping and naturally airguns. Not too bad of a drive for me either to that neck of the woods. Kids are in school till the 22nd of May here so that may pose an issue. Regardless, a Saturday and Sunday would be great.

Bill, this is encouraging- thanks for the offer.  I doubt I'd be able to make it- VA is a good ways off.

But-  well, I'll send you a PM.

Only reason I would not make it as most with a family know its difficult to do so.

May is a good ways off.. lots of things can happen. I will contact the ag center and see what's open. I know they have an annual rodeo right around that time. They also have the father/son wild game cook off and other events that folks rent the center for... birthdays, weddings and such.

Peter, very generous... I sent PM.

I understand that Travis is close to making an announcement about a GTA shoot. We'll want to wait and see what that plan is... I don't want to compete with a GTA sponsored function.
As a loyal member, I think the good of the forum should come first.

Depending on the dates in May, I would take the 300 mile drive along with El Guappo if he is up to it.

Lots of active GTA members in this area who will most likely attend once we get a committed date set up.

Bill, when you speak with them again, see if they have electricity available at the pavilions. I may bring my compressor and need power to charge tanks.
Title: Re: Possible Fun Shoot... Please post interests.
Post by: avator on January 14, 2020, 12:13:15 PM
I had planned to ask about that.... I believe there are outlets because they have lights under the pavilion. If nothing else, We live within a quarter mile, tanks could be filled and shuttled with one of our 4 wheelers.
Title: Re: Possible Fun Shoot... Please post interests.
Post by: avator on January 14, 2020, 12:50:09 PM
OK, here's what I have.....
I spoke to Derrick just now on the phone. Again, I told him exactly what we would be doing... shooting air guns in a controlled environment.
They are fine with that.
This is where we are.
The fee is $225 per day. It includes the large pavilion where we can hold sign in, door prizes, raffles and plenty of seating for eating or whatever.
Power sources WILL BE AVALIBLE for compressors. This is also under the cover of the pavilion.
Indoor restrooms with water and lights.
Lots and lots of parking for cars, trucks and RV (no power or water hookups). Also room for primitive tent camping (please pay attention to the following about that)
I specifically asked him what (per day) meant. He told me that he would have no problem with us getting on the property on Friday afternoon and setting things up. Have the event on Saturday. And have Sunday morning to pack up and leave the place as we found it.... all inclusive to the one day rental fee of $225.
We will have plenty of room for safe shooting lanes out to 100 yds.
Here is my proposal....
I will put up the $225 and pick a few airgun related things to award as door prizes and a possible raffle. At least one member has also offered up a rifle as a contribution.
ALL PROCEEDS ABOVE THE COST OF THE RENTAL AND COST OF THIS EVENT WILL BE DONATED TO THE GTA !!!
At this point, Friday, May 15 - Sunday, May 17 is open for us. I want to let them know and book the date as soon as possible.
Your turn...
Give me 5 confirmations that ya'll will be there and I'll make it happen.
I already told Betty Lou that if it falls through that her and I will have a great place to shoot our guns for a day....  :o
All the fine details can be worked out between now and then. We have a few months.
LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN !!!!

And guessing we should plan on bringing pop-up shelters, shooting tables (benches) and chairs. Targets and stands. Air and plenty of lead.
Planning the packing in my head. Hope I don't have to pull a trailer as usual.
LOL

Watch out for the ATTACK DEER in the area!

Then it got us a few hours later!
Just as I was warning Bill about it!

Yes Dave.... pop ups and shooting tables are a must.
Bring your favorite targets and set ups too...
Remember, I have never been to a fun shoot let alone set one up so, all suggestions and help are welcome. I will set up a marked, safe shooting area.

THIS JUST IN !!!!
I just got off the phone with Pops !!!
Pops is my property owner. Everyone from miles around knows Pops. Now ya'll will too. He's a hoot.
Anyhow... Pops has a BBQ trailer. Some of the best authentic southern BBQ you'll ever find. Pops has committed to bringing and setting up his trailer. Pops has also committed to contacting the local Pepsi Co. and having a drink trailer set up on site. Pops has connections and he will have Pepsi hook us up with banners..... free of charge.
Pops has also volunteered to print up flyers and hang them around town. We have a ton of father/son types around here that don't have any idea how far airguns have come. We have an opportunity to expose some folks to our hobby.
I would suggest any of you with guns for sale.... bring them. Many of these folks have only seen what Walmart sells.

You think a .50 cal would build some excitement?
 ;D
Can shoot without Donnyfl then with it to show what We can do.

I also have some free motel time I can use.
Can get free time about 20 miles away.

Can bring the AV compressor and extension cords also.

The more I think about it the more I'm thinking you'll be bringing the trailer. You can leave it at our place and pick it back up on the way back from the Gulf.

Just checked on the free stuff.
Not available that week.
 :(
No problem! Can sleep in the truck. Will not be the first time I've done that!

Looking at about a 12 hour drive from home.
(OK. They way I drive? let's say about 10)

I base that on 771 miles. Given the maps say about 12 hours? That's cray cray!
An average of 64 MPH? REALLY?
That's California driving around LA!
I travel from Ohio to Utah in 24 hours and averaged 80 MPH!

NO thanks Bill. I'm done with all that. I'm coming as a regular member to shoot and watch others work for a change. :)
I'll gladly help some but not going to pack the house to travel again. Who knows though, I may buy a pull behind camper trailer before then.

Betty Lou and I have been looking for a class C RV. We want to pull the 4 wheeler trailer with it.

Anyhow... I'm about to make the call and reserve the date.
One thing for sure.... at least a few of us will have plenty to eat and shoot.... lol

I got that covered.
I have to go fill out the papers and take a check tomorrow on my lunch break.
I contacted Pepsi and that is all set up. A trailer, cups and enough to serve 400 and a couple banners.

I work for SMART Alabama LLC. We are a supplier of stamped automotive parts for a major auto manufacturer (not sure if I can post the name).
Our plant manager caught wind of what I was trying to do here..... ok, I flat out told him... lol
He told me to put together a letter of what it was I was doing and our company will support us in the form of donations, door/raffle items or what ever we need. We have a bunch of folding tables and chairs that can be used under the pavilion for registration, door prize/raffle and eating.
The thought just came to me.... I know where I'm going to get all the ice we need now.... we have a couple large ice machines here.

Bill, I’m making plans to be there.  Might also have my friend from Jackson if I can peel him away.

I just want you to know I’ve given consideration that this decision has the potential to place me in proximity to both you and Jeff simultaneously, and I have decided to come anyway.

As I know it the line to shoot Jeff is long so I am building a long range gun so I can do it from the back of the line like 200y away.

Been around here for some 7 or 8 years.... seen many fun shoots come and go but never got to go to one for one reason or another. That alone is motivation enough for me.
Closest thing to a fun shoot to me has been the hours upon hours that Betty Lou and I spent shooting here at home. It will be a nice change for the possibility of outshooting someone.... ;)

The date is really close to some important work dates. With a 20 hour round trip, I doubt that I will be able to make it.

.......I feel sad.......
Hopefully it is only the first of more to come.
I wanted to book it when the weather is tolerable. I wanted to book it far enough into the future to have planning time. I wanted to book it to kinda fit in where the HSB event was cancelled (that idea was before Travis announced plan for a GTA shoot). And I had to book it between prior bookings at the site (May 2nd and May 23rd) And I also wanted to avoid Mother's day weekend. So the date kinda picked itself.

I happen to know a guy that has a big ole truck that has been known to travel around willy nilly. Rumor has it that he has plans to attend. he may even drive by your place and slow down enough for you to toss some camping gear and a gun in the back of the truck and jump in.....
Stranger things have happened, you know.

Shoot yeah count me in for a good ole Southern shoot out.  You bring the Pepsi and I'll bring the Kuntry.

Where's the poll for this event?

I have been waiting on admin to make this an official sponsored GTA event.  I have no idea just yet what they meant by "There will be a 2020 Fun shoot", so I wanted to keep my options open for that.

I also would like to hear if PA will sponsor the competitions and offer up the certificates to the winners, plus there's the vendor participation and raffles.  All of which have always been in my time on here.

Regardless of the pending logistics to be worked out, a lot of hands I haven't shaken yet have already committed to going that I am looking forward to shaking hands with.  Plus, there's some friends from previous shoots like Lizzie, Dave and Rocker1 that say they can make it.  I sure hope Lloyd will come even though his travel companion (Marty2) cannot.  And then there's Travis and co.  I sure hope so...At any rate we gonna have some fun and fellowship with what we have, our weapons of choice, which is really the prize.

Tom,  get ready to rumble...

I see this thread has been moved to the Announcement Gate... Thanks for that.
I also added a poll. Please, even if you've verbally confirmed, hit the poll.

Travis... If you feel this is worthy of becoming a GTA sponsored event then FWIW, you have my blessing. Being brand new to setting one of these things up, I would only ask that someone with experience reach out to vendors, as suggested, and offer them the option to get involved in any capacity they choose.
Again, SMART ALABAMA LLC. https://www.smart-alabama.com/ (https://www.smart-alabama.com/) (the company I work for) has offer to support us.... those details to come. I'm pretty sure I can get other local support.
I would suggest it dubbed "South East Area GTA Fun Shoot" being we are just a bit out of reach of our North Eastern family. That would give those folks the option to get something going in their area. Either way, I still plan on donating the proceeds (above my initial out of pocket expenses. Those being the site rental and cost of the Pepsi trailer w/softdrinks included) to the GTA. I would be transparent with a ledger and ask one of our trusted staff member to co-monitor these funds.
Items donated for door prizes and raffles will become the property of the GTA.
Guns and airgun related items, along with the proceeds from those sales, offered for sale during this event will remain the property of those members.
If this is acceptable to all concerned.... make it so.

Well... Dad always did say... "Son, if you're going to jump into something you might as well go in sliding sideways and on fire".

So, flame on !!!

This thing has apparently exploded in a very short time.
You may want to go back to the top of the thread and reread the first post.
We have gone from being a little friendly one day get together to a full blown GTA sanctioned and backed annual 2 day event !!!
Arrangements are being made to contact all the typical GTA event supporting vendors to come aboard.
Fortunately I originally planned this a few months in the future so we can take the time to develop the details and make it as enjoyable as any event in the past.
Travis and I had a phone conversation today and the foundation has been set. Betty Lou has grabbed two handfuls of hair and is now in the process of separating them from her head.... that right there is an event to witness.

There number is 1-334-335-3050.

Bill, I will be there to help with setup and teardown.  And to feed that deer for Jeff so he will be safe.

Not to worry Matt.. we have ways of putting the money back through raffles, tee shirt/hat sales and such.... and I also still have the support from the company I work for. I talked to them again yesterday and told him that the GTA would now be sponsoring the event. He told me that that didn't matter to him and they will still support us. As we get closer to the event it will become clearer which areas we will need that support and make arrangement for them to give it... right now they have committed to us with tables, chairs and ice. Later we will decide if cash or door/raffle prizes would be better.
I spoke to Travis yesterday and we decided to make it a 2 day event. Today I will go and lock in the date with payment.

Remember folks.... this forum only exists through donations.
These fun shoots and events are not only a means for members to get together for fun and fellowship. They also serve as a means to generate funds to keep our forum running. Donations is our other life's blood.
My hope is to get our local community involved in this one for educational purposes. This area is huge on hunting... young people are exposed to it at a very young age. We can help teach safety. We can also gain exposure to our forum which will go along way with the growth.
Around here I'm known as 'The BB Gun Guy'... ya'll may just be surprised at who will be at this event. I do a bit of elbow rubbing with some of the city and county folks...  ;)

Yes... after we decided to make it a GTA event things got a bit bigger. Due to logistical and setup planning, it became apparent that we needed more time so we decided to extend it by one day.
I figure I'll take Friday and begin taping things off and getting some type of layout going. Friday afternoon our traveling members and volunteers should start rolling in.
Friday afternoon and Saturday morning we can to some fine tuning, setup our shooting benches, set up our canopies and benches and mark out the shooting lanes. Open for business shortly there after.
Saturday evening will be a great time for our traveling members to hang out around a campfire and share war stories. Face time. Maybe even get together at a local eatery.
Sunday we can access the turn out for the day and carry on or just enjoy some impromptu shooting amongst ourselves.... we'll go with the flow.
Many will have plans to pack up and head home. Monday Betty Lou and I will do clean up duty. I feel it very important to leave the place at least as good as we found it to insure our welcome for future events.
So far, every single local person that I have mentioned this to has been excited and plan on attending. Most said that this is exactly the type of thing they would like to see more of in our area.
We are not a large town which means word travels very fast. It also stretches far and wide.

Hey! That Deer charged me twice!
Once going into Bill's place then again as He and I were going out!
I am bringing the .50 and will claim self defense if it's still around!
Body Armour should be here in a few days along with a couple body bags.
Did you know body bags were so cheap?

Being I travel extensively?
I plan a route through Lexington, Kentucky.
I've been through Louisville and Nashville and can say....
Probably not a smart way to go!
Mapping software will tell you it's faster but get caught in traffic or accidents!
I also plan to travel to avoid rush hours!
Means I'll be the Ghost in the dark!

Don't come through Nashville between the hours of 3:30 to 6:30 pm on Friday.  It will cost you at a minimum another hour delay,  if sunny and there are no major incidents or shootings.  They think nothing of shutting the interstate systems down for hours on end for the littlest of things, too.  Otherwise, the speeds run 80 mph plus for most speeders outside those times and beyond the bottleneck points.

I'm heading south Tuesday or Wednesday from Northern Ohio.
I'll go through Lexington, KY to avoid Louisville and Nashville.
Maps will tell you it's slower and longer?
But trust me! I know what can happen and how often it does!
Many times the longer route is the fastest since so many people just blindly follow what GPS tells them.
I also know rush hours and plan around that as I travel.
I get 5 hours drive time on a full tank of fuel.
That's 2 stops and I'm in Alabama. Takes about 10 minutes to fill up.
If I roll from home at 1 AM? I avoid a lot of traffic problems on my way.

Made two trips back and forth from Ohio when we moved here in 2013. That's 4 times in Nashville and it cost us two days layover each time...  :o
It wasn't about the traffic.... I just can't seen to drive through Nashville without stopping for a 2 day party. 8)

Anyways......
I just got back from the courthouse. The GTA Fun Shoot East is officially booked !!!
We got a little extra bonus tossed in. We now have full access to the grounds and the inside facility. This inside facility has a large banquet area just perfect for vendors to set up shop if they choose. It also provides space for folks to set tables and sell their junk used guns if they choose. What this does is, if vendors spend time and money to come to our event and it rains out, they are still set up to sling their wares indoors. With the pavilion, our canopies and other covered areas, we should not be bothered by a little rain here and there. WE WILL SHOOT AIRGUNS RAIN OR SHINE !!!!
It also provides another set of indoor restrooms and a kitchen. I've only been in the banquet room so I'll have to see what else is in there.
I pick up the keys on Friday morning and turn them back in Monday afternoon.

Again.... I'll get some pics posted this weekend of the layout. I use my rangefinder to get some basic measurements. I would like a couple suggestions as far as the directional layout. We have a couple options.
There is also a rodeo pen that short range shooting, or games, can be set up in. In my mind it can be set up for two types of shooting in two separate areas ...... safely.

I'll be there days early to help Bill.
(Lord knows he's gonna need it!)
Then I'll be around to insure everything is cleaned up properly before I leave.
The body armour is to be sure Rocker1 only wounds me so I can complete the clean up.

Better have some for front and back since Rocker1 and me my be teaming up on you. Especially of there are chocolate chip cookies involved. ;D ;D ;)

We also have the CMP program up the road in Anniston, Al. I'll reach out to them.
I've spoke to Tommy before about other things.

Bill, the CMP range is 10 minutes from my house and I know Matt there who is one of the range directors so I can act as a liaison between you and tommy or matt if need be to help you out.

Thanks Mike... I'll give him a day or so to respond to e-mail. Then you can go knocking on the door.

How could this be the first fun shoot east when we've been having them for over four years in SC, with a big one every fall for the last two years?
So true Al...
But this will be the first one here at this location and we hope to continue to have it annually. There is also one being planned for later this year. That one will become GTA Fun Shoot West.

Hope some show up with some of the big boy guns so we can show some of these locals where the industry has gone. Best I can do is my Sumatra. From there it will be the Nova Freedom and some of my lego builds.
Also got some oldies to show where we came from.
Might even have a nice little vintage pistol in the box to raffle off....  ;) ;)

In gunna show up with my

I'm bringing an entire case of paintballs we can use as targets if we have some kind of a rack, I received these as a birthday gift last year from my daughter and haven't had a chance to explode any of them yet but am looking forward to it.
Title: Re: GTA FUN SHOOT EAST
Post by: avator on January 17, 2020, 03:37:23 PM
When the announcement about the cancellation of the GTA fun shoot in HSB was posted I decided to try to put something together. At the onset, it had nothing to do with GTA. I was going to do a fun shoot regardless. I asked permission to announce it in the forum, gathered ideas and went with it. "GTA" was not even included in the title. A short time later the powers that be here at the GTA decided to get behind it. Plans for a West coast fun shoot were already being discussed. It was decided that there would be two fun shoot this year. One west of the big ditch and one east... hence the names East and West.
Any man jack, or woman, in here can jump in and put together a fun shoot in any location on this planet of you're liking.... and call it whatever you like. However, when sponsorship gets involved they have a say in these matters. I welcomed the offer, why wouldn't I? This forum is my home away from home. Whatever I can do within my meager power to help it grow to serve our family and the airgun community as a whole, I'm in.
My plan was to pass all proceeds of this event along to the GTA, whether it was $20 or $200. Just so happens that GTA getting involved will increase that windfall exponentially. That will benefit each one of us.

Thanks Tom.... I have 3/4 case (1500) that I'll be bringing as well. DEz and I have discussed the (rack). We will have 2x4s with holes drilled in them. DEz has golf tees to place in the holes for the paintballs to sit on. You can shoot from ours or we can drill some up for you.
Each register line sight will include a space for a 10x10 canopy w/shooting bench/table (supplied by the shooter). Each will have a designated and marked shooting lane. These lanes will reach out a distance of up to 100yds. (I estimated that by sight, I will measure it this weekend). What ever targets, pellet traps, reactives... ect. will be also supplied by the shooter.
"STOP SHOOTING" will be announced periodically for target checks and changes to promote safety.
NO SHOTS WILL BE FIRED ALONG THE SHOOTING LINE WHEN SOMEONE IS IN A SHOOTING LANE OR YOU WE BE ASKED TO LEAVE.... or at least put your guns away.
Also, this will be an open event.... there will be folks there with little or no experience with airguns the likes of what we have. There with be younger folks there.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF WHAT IS AROUND YOU !!!

How could this be the first fun shoot east when we've been having them for over four years in SC, with a big one every fall for the last two years?

Sure nuff Al, this is NOT the first East side fun shoot. Initially they were held in Charleston and another location in SC before moving to Gene's home in Belton, SC. There it was for at least 4 years. And you have had a fantastic localized shooting event for quite a while also.
As Bill stated, with my change in status the HSB event was cancelled at the discretion of the new forum owner. He stated he planned on having an East coast as well as a West coast event to cover as many members as possible. Since I probably could not attend either that far away, Bill and I tossed the idea around to have just a friendly get together, like yours, in Luverne, AL. Well...it grew in a VERY short time. Seems many would come to such a venue. Then Bill lined up food and drink. Then the city and his company offered support. Wow....did it grow quickly. Travis decided this could qualify as the "East coast" event. Granted, it's not exactly on the East coast but with the expected turnout, we could not let it pass unsupported. We will see. We still have time for it to grow even more. We have asked our sanctioned vendors to support it also. We will just have to wait and see how it goes, much like the first time in KY or AR.
But no disrespect was intended to the original Fun Shoot nor your event when it was called the first ever East Coast GTA Fun Shoot. I wish you were closer, many of us would gladly turn the setup over to you and make your event THE East Coast Fun Shoot. :)
Thank ya sir for putting yours together. Getting together and having a good time is what it's all about!!!

There is the Rutledge Inn within a mile of the shoot site. It's about the only one within 25 or so miles that I would recommend. 3 or four had already booked before I even thought about contacting the Motel. I'll try to reach out to them and see id they will discount retro.

Edit.... I just called the Rutledge Inn. The girl that answered said that as far as she knew they stopped doing group rates but, the manager will be there in the morning and I can call back.

Yes sir,,, 10' lanes will be marked out. Bring your own canopies and shootin' tables. Favorite targets/pellet traps/stands as well.
Concerning pellet traps... we will have upwards of 100yds to set targets. Beyond that is field and woods. If you are one to want to contain your pellets.... for whatever reason... brings a means to trap them. If not, let the lead fly.

I'm gonna bring my 30 and 60 min CF tanks and bug Jeff and DEz to top them off so I don't have to fill guns with my Vevor at the shoot.
Thinking about selling off my 100cf and 80cf aluminum scuba tanks. I also have the MKII compressor that needs a high side seal job. That's gonna sell cheap.... Like to sell off enough of this kinda stuff to buy one real nice gun. Believe me, I have a bunch of it that just don't get shot.

I also got a 2/3rds full box of paintballs and will have some other reactive targets as well as some FT fall over resettable targets with me and likely some others I can get made up by then.

I also got a room at the Rutledge inn for Friday/Saturday for 149.50 tax included. Phone number is 1-334-335-3050

I have not even thought about all the guns I will be bringing with but for sure the  25 brod, 22 mutant,  177 TX200 with AGT 22mm skirtless piston kit, 177 gen1 Mrod, FWB 124, 1720T and prod, 25 flash, and as many more as I can fit in the truck. Its an extended cab long bed so lots of space to fill.

Are we there yet. ::) ??? ;D ;D

The fact is that many of us here in Alabama and surrounding area are within a few short hours of each other. I'm always open to day hangouts on the weekend and such. I have a 3 acre field right next to the house that we can pile up on and shoot 50 - 60 yds. on a Saturday or Sunday. Just not enough room to host an event like this on.
Those 3 acres have been sold off but I have permission to be on them until the new owners begin to develop them.... a couple years down the line.
Any time you , more local, folks want to get together, we can make it happen.

Sounds good Bill, I may take you up on the offer once my apnea device get activated and I can resume a normal sleep routine with restorative sleep benefits. Feb 3rd is the rebirth date for me. ;D ;D

Like wise if you or any local shooters have a hankering to try out some FT matches or some long range 100 yard plinking our club is located in Heflin ,AL at 1200 Evans bridge road., Google for directions. There is also a 100 yard archery range next to our sight in range as well as a 3D archery course across the road with our FT courses. This is all owned and maintained by the city of Heflin so its well kept with bathrooms on site. We try to shoot the first weekend of each month weather permitting. We shoot Saturday mornings at 8am and Sunday afternoons at 2pm. The range is open 7/365 for sight in/plinking at your leisure and FT course is open all weekend on match weekends so if you cannot make it on match start time just shoot when you can. Your first match is free and then only 5 dollars per match on honor type system.

We shoot HFT only right now which is based on UK rules of 12fpe limit with any gun/scope combo and scope can be set to any power/parallax desired but once you address the first target no further scope adjustments are allowed. Targets are 8 to 45 yards and shot from prone, kneeling or standing with some unsupported lanes and some supported lanes using trees or pegs in the ground for support. We also have a sticks class for us old geezers that are not capable getting up and down off the ground from prone/kneeling positions,( namely me the old geezer). ;)  I use a stool and bipod on the prone lanes and kneeling lanes stool only no bipod.

We are in the process of trying to get a fun shoot scheduled for some time in April so when it gets finalized I will post a thread on the forum for those that may be interested. It should have fun plinking, long range shooting/matches and FT matches for a two day event also.

Found this place in Andalusia this morning called Dirt Cheap. Looked like an unkept Odd Lots. Stuff everywhere..
I guess they do buyouts and such..
Shopped around and they had signs that read "Up to 90% off ticket prices".
I picked up 2 10x10 Ozark Trail easy up canopies for $23 each.
SCORE !!!
So we got our shooting bench canopy and another one to put our stuff in that we plan to sell.

Yep, exactly the sticker price. Got em for 70% off. You had to check them over, some of them had the canopy missing from folks opening them. I found one that was never opened and the other had the canopy tied to the handle in a plastic bag. I set that one up when we got home.... took all of 10 minutes. Found a miss stitch on a piece of velcro.... strip of duct tape and done.

Actually, on my occasional road trips and travels away from home for 2-3 days at a time, I often find the older places in town to be pretty fun to stay in. I have met some really cool people doing that. When I went to Arkansas a couple of years ago, I stayed in Jasper the first night....just drove down there and found a place on the river that was only about 50 dollars per night. The owners had been there since the place had been opened in the 50's, if I'm not mistaken.
It was old, and not the prettiest place I've stayed in, of course, but it was nice enough. Clean, the AC worked, had cable tv and Wi-Fi service. I find places like that to generally be lots of fun.LOL

I agree Lizzie, I much prefer the older places also and find them to be fun and more welcoming to stay at compared to the corporate cookie cutter places most every town has nowadays. I also like to be close to the events I attend versus having to drive farther to save a few dollars. Gas adds up to costs incurred in the big picture IMO.

Oh ok, I  thought you had Rutledge Inn booked. I know that Jeff and Don got a place in Troy... I didn't catch the name of the place though. They are coming in a day or so early and plan to camp at the sight for the weekend.

Yep, plenty of room.
Today is MLK day and is recognized as a holiday here in the south with many closings, including our company. WOOHOO a paid extended weekend for me! I saw yesterday that the bovine show had moved out of the Ag Center. So, I'll be able to get over there today and take some pictures and measurements to post here.

We will mark off an area for rv and tent camping separate from visitor parking. Also a place for member/vendor parking that will be convenient for unloading and setting up. All those details can be worked out.

There will be a sign in sheet for those wanting a 10 x 10 shooting lane space. All members that have already committed here will have a space reserved.

Not familiar with that particular gun but, I shoot all manners of gun on my property, Betty Lou and I have airgun shooting sessions that sometimes last until daylight and beyond.
Also, as mentioned, at he the neighbor's, we host shotgun turkey shoots.

ok, where was I?
Oh yeah...
The actual 'arena' area is surrounded by fence with bleachers on both sides. There is an elevated announcer's booth over looking it. This fenced in area measures 50yds. wide by 80yds long. That will support 15 10x10 shooting lanes about 60yds each. These next pics show that area. In the back ground you can see the relationship to the pavilion and the indoor building for vendors to set up if they so desire. The second and third pic also shows the outside restroom house. More restroom inside.  The pictures were taken from the top of the stairs leading into the announcer's booth.

Not to worry.... that area should be dried up come event time.... we've had a bunch of rain here in the past few days.
You can also see the grassy public parking space for visitor in the third pic above..... plenty of room and out of the line of fire. We'll tape off 'danger areas'.
Title: Re: GTA FUN SHOOT EAST
Post by: avator on January 20, 2020, 12:24:00 PM
These next pics show the area right behind the arena. The first pic shows where shooting 10x10 shooting canopies/spaces can be placed.... room for well over 25 spaces. the second pic shows that this area provides up to 140 yds of safe shooting lanes for you 'big boys' to shoot.

By my figures... that's 40 10x10 shooting lanes in and outside of the 'arena'.
I wasn't able to get inside the building today but, there is ample room in there for exhibits and such. The pavilion is roughly 100' by 200' for registration and raffle/door prizes. Between that and the building will be the food and drink trailers. Everything is in great relationship to all areas. Fences are in place everywhere to keep folks and lead away from each other. We can also add caution tape to control tracffic.

My mind is going 1000 mph with this thing.... random thoughts flying in and out.
For example... I think all shooters can see the top of those steps at the announcer's booth. That would be a good spot for a green and red flag signaling when it's safe to go downrange and set/change targets.
2 days gives us plenty of 'bench time'. I would hope all attending members can volunteer to trade off "flag duty".

When it comes time to change targets just call out a "CEASE FIRE!" with a bull horn.
That's what was done before.
Line Crew then watch to be sure all Guns are stowed and keep an eye on things.
A special Guy needs to watch Rocker1 if I walk out!
If he shoots me I'd probably start dancing around and then we are in trouble!

Speaking without knowing the layout, we typically set out our own targets within our shooting lanes at varying distances 25, 50, 75, 100...I'm hoping I won't have to move the entire table setup just to shoot at a different distance.
Title: Re: GTA FUN SHOOT EAST
Post by: avator on January 21, 2020, 12:15:36 PM
No Keith. There are just 2 areas to set up lanes. One is max 60 yds and the other is max 120+. You can set your targets in your lane anywhere you like. I will use a 60yd lane because I really don't shoot past that and don't have guns tuned for beyond.

Well all
I spoke to Matt at the CMP yesterday as he is the "South Competition Center Supervisor" and he was very receptive to our invite to come join in on the fun shoot. He said he believes the dates we have set were open on the CMP schedule but would have to check to be sure. He also said that they do outreach programs along with the 4H in this type of setting so would contact them as well to see what could be arranged. The home base for 4H in Alabama is in Montgomery so just up the road from our venue.

He should be in contact with me in the coming days to let me know what can be arranged, They likely will set up a exhibit inside the building to show the style guns used in the CMP competitions as some do crossover between 10 meter and FT use. Also they may need some outdoor space for some silhouette courses to be setup for our fun shooting.

I will keep all informed as I hear more details about what they are willing to make happen.

Lol, we might get a lane.  Sounds like most of AL will be there.  I wonder if we can back our vehicles up to the shootings lanes like in the past.

Thanks for doing that leg work for me Mike. They had not got back to me. Not sure if I mentioned above but, the girl in the courthouse that I signed up with told me there was a local guy that did the 4H thing. I'm sure CMP will reach out to him.

Kieth... yes there will be room on the 100+ yd spaces to get your truck to your lane. The 60yd lanes are inside the actual outdoor arena. It will be a short walk to those as we can't get vehicles inside the fence.

Yea I will let Matt know when he contacts me about if they are going to participate or not that there is a local 4H member in the area that he could contact. If you can get his name that would help I am sure.

Yeah, I'm probably over thinking.

....with good reason!
It really has been my observation, though, that yelling hot range or hot line will cause a chorus to join in, helping insure that no one gers hurt.

Be careful.   While at the local outdoor range I have had folks fire downrange when I was retrieving targets.   Yes, I did call out to the rest of the line before going out onto the range and got responses from *most*, but ONE IDIOT did not hear the rest of them and fired while I was downrange.   This was with FIREARMS, not AGs.

This is an *uncontrolled* range... in that there is no range master.

Needless to say, as it was crowded that day, the offender was asked to leave in NO uncertain terms by nearly everyone on the line.

I feel lucky...

We'll make every effort to make sure that does not happen.

That only has happened once for me on that range, but it did make me HYPER vigilant about making sure that EVERYONE was on the same page when ANYONE was downrange.

I have had a couple of people thank me for being an AH about it and a few who called me an AH.

Better safe than wounded or dead.

DEz I knew that there was a reason that Rocker1 likes you  ;)

I will have to go to the Brookhaven range before the fun shoot and see if I can still hit with tight groups at the 100 yard range with the Marauder .30 and my Crown .25

Marauder .30 cal...That I wanna see.
Yes the Marauder is pretty as well as accurate. It's dressed in a Boyd's Blaster TH stock and 24" barrel under the shroud makes for great accuracy with slugs

I would like to propose a  competitive event if something like this isn't already on the schedule.  In the early days of competitive mountain biking every race had an event called the "Huffy Toss"  wherein participants would compete to see how far they could throw a Huffy bicycle.  I propose the Cheap Airgun Toss!  Participants will compete to hurl box store brand  airguns for distance and style.  I have some guns I will donate!

I checked my on call calendar at work and I am free the weekend of the fun shoot. My wife and I plan to drive down from Chattanooga on Friday. I have yet to purchase a PCP Air rifle so looking forward to being at a place were I can see what everyone is shooting. The only Air Rifles I have found around Chattanooga are break barrels but I am interested in a PCP. As a possible new convert to the Air gun world I am looking forward to the event in May.
Is there an address for the location the Fun shoot is going to be at.
I wanted to do a map quest to see exactly where it is. Thanks Tom.

Yes Sir Paul, you are correct. We are just a short 2 hours from the Gulf Coast.
This fun shoot was not intended to be The Fun Shoot East at it's inception, it just evolved into that. If it works out that future GTA Fun Shoot East events are held in a different, more geographically correct location, I still hope to put on a yearly fun shoot here with or without the support of the GTA.
Heck, we could call it The Crazy Deer Fun Shoot for that matter.
Educating and exposing our sport here in our neck of the woods was, and is my goal.... along with some face time with other like minded members of our forum.

You have no idea of how it pains me not to be able to make it. My wife an I generally do not take the usual 1-2 week vacations and I look forward to many long weekends which include BB guns! I haven't seen any suggestions for setting up a FT range. If you can gather enough resettable targets I'm sure there would be plenty of folks interested in participating. You would need the type which are reset by pulling a string. Just a thought...

Gabe and me are planning on talking with our match director to see if we can bring several FT targets to setup for a small course hopefully. I have three of my own I use at home as well as three of the resettable squirrel target with washers welded in to make 1/2" kill zones that can be a challenge at 30 to 50 yards.

So do not count out a small course of 10 or maybe even 15 targets to enjoy.

I am glad I don't do creek water anymore, but then I was a happy drinker when I did enjoy it. ;D ;D ;)

Just a quick update on the possibility of having a small FT match at the fun shoot. Our match director is planning on attending the fun shoot with Gabe and myself. He is all in for having a 10 lane mini FT course as well as some 25 meter benchrest competitions also. We are in the process of joining the US air rifle benchrest club so we can hold official matches at our club.

I have not heard back from the CMP as of yet but was going to touch base with Matt tomorrow to see if he has any update.

Looks like its going to be a good time for all who can attend the event

That should be plenty of room for both courses I would think. We can figure it out on Friday.

The FT course in going to be based on UKHFT rules with targets set from 8 to 45 yards and shooting position are prone, kneeling and standing off hand. There is supported kneeling and off hand positions as well but not sure if they will be used at the fun shoot due to no trees that are normally used on our home course. There is also a sticks class for those that have trouble getting in to a prone or kneeling position that allows for a stool and bipod. So in sticks you shoot from stool and bipod on prone lanes, stool only on kneeling lanes.

Here are the rules for UKHFT but we do modify some of them to suit the game here in the US.
   https://www.sites.google.com/site/ukahft/2017-rules (https://www.sites.google.com/site/ukahft/2017-rules)

The benchrest is only 25 meters and we will be bringing 3 or 4 benches and chairs to be used for that game. It will be light varmint guns at 12 fpe and heavy varmint guns at 20 fpe levels.

Wondering why you are thinking of using the UK rules. They are so complicated compared to the US rules. I've been shooting FT for about 6 years and as I have no plans to compete in the UK, why would I want to compete under their rules? Below is some info from the AoA website.

Wondering why you are thinking of using the UK rules. They are so complicated compared to the US rules. I've been shooting FT for about 6 years and as I have no plans to compete in the UK, why would I want to compete under their rules? Below is some info from the AoA website.

https://www.airgunnersofarizona.org/field-target-rules-page.html (https://www.airgunnersofarizona.org/field-target-rules-page.html)

pv

Our club shot the AAFTA game for years so am very familiar with it and was in the hunter class, we held the southern open for many years. There was a decline in monthly turnout of shooters so we are trying the UK game in an effort to attract more shooters into the sport. The UK game allows for far less expensive equipment to be required to be competitive to have a equal chance of winning. We are trying to get father/son shooters out from their backyards to have some fun.

I understand your stance but actually the rules are far less complicated than AAFTA IMO. You use any gun/scope combo you desire but are limited to 12fpe and once you address the first target you cannot adjust the scope. So the key is to set your scope to have the clearest image possible from 8 to 45 yards. If you do not want to give it a try that's fine, its your choice.

Unfortunately,  I will not be making the 20 hour drive to the fun shoot. I'd be on the road round trip about twice the amount of time as I would  spend at the meet. That said, I still feel the 12fpe rule would eliminate many of the would be participants. I doubt I'd want to detune one of my pcp's just for this event. JMHO, but as I won't be there...have at it!

This FT will only be one of the things we have planned.... there will be lots of other things to do. As far as not being there... I get it... pretty sure I won't be attending the GTA Fun Shoot West coming up later in the year as crossing time zones does strange things to my mind and body.

I was not sure if you were coming or not so all is good. I do understand about detuning a gun for this game as well. I have enough guns to have several 12fpe and 20fpe guns in .177 so not an issue for me. My original FT mrod is still at the 18.5fpe from the AAFTA matches we used to shoot. I enjoy the UK matches and actually have so far had better score than I ever had in AAFTA.

There are a few things in the works but we can always use more. Remember, this Fun Shoot will be open to the public. Any and all will be able to buy tickets. That said, we may want to think about what we will raffle and offer as door prizes. Most of our members are already set up to fill PCP guns. The locals will be newcomers mostly. Break barrels, C02 and pumpers will most likely attract more interest because of the support equipment thing with PCP.
A nice little 2k gun and hand pump may also be attractive.
On the other hand, we don't want to forget about our experienced members. They will want the bigger boy toys. I have my MKII compressor that needs a little help that I wouldn't feel right offering as a prize but, it will be for sale..... cheap.
DEz sent a couple boxes of organizational stuff. That will be very helpful.
I have about 40 1'x2' steel blanks that make awesome targets. Paint both side white and apply about 40 yardsale stickers to each side. That's 80 dimes to shoot at.

I'd ride my shovel down but not near enough room for all my guns, tables, canopy and FT equipment on it and me still have a place to sit on it. I bet I would get a police escort there real quick. ??? ??? 8)

I tend to agree, but if there is enough room to setup FT separately from the rest of the happenings, I guess why not.  Typically, and respectfully, all targets out in the field have been fair game in the past.  Most will ask, but that can get sketchy after awhile.

How much room is needed for FT? Sorry, I never shot FT. Will a space separate from the rest of the benches that measure 50yds x 80yds do it?
Title: Re: GTA FUN SHOOT EAST
Post by: Michael Loar on February 26, 2020, 03:13:54 AM
The UK game we shoot now is based on the 12fpe limit in the UK but the target can handle up to 20fpe without issue which is the limit for the US AAFTA rules.

The main difference between the UK game and the US AAFTA game is equipment costs required to be competitive against other shooters in each game. UKHFT is 12 fpe only and any gun scope combo can be used at any power/parallax settings but once you address the first target no scope or gun adjustments are allowed for the rest of the match. Shooting position are prone, kneeling and standing or for us old geezers a sticks class which is off bucket ( stools ) and sticks ( bipods )  So you have to have your scope set to be able to see clear enough from 8 to 45 yards to hit the kill zone and use bracketing to judge target distances and know your guns trajectories at those ranges. A miss is 0 points, a faceplate hit without dropping target is 1 point, dropping the target is 2 points and each target is shot twice per lane so a 10 lane course would be total of 40 points for a perfect score. In this game a 200 dollar gun and scope has as good a chance of winning as a 4000 dollar gun and scope based on how well the shooter knows his gun and ability..

The AAFTA game is comprised of three classes WFTF which is 12 fpe only and any scope power or parallax setting that can be adjusted and clicked during the match and you sit on a bum pad, kneeling or standing, open class which is 20 fpe limit and same scope rules of clicking and adjusting and shooting positions, hunter class which is 20fpe limit from bucket and sticks with max 16 power scope level and adjustable parallax but no clicking allowed. Targets are 10 to 55 yards and scored as a miss or faceplate hit as 0 points and dropping the target as 1 point with two shots per target. So a 10 lane course would be a total of 20 points for a prefect score. So obviously in this game money rules in that a 4000 dollar plus setup has a huge advantage over a 200 dollar setup regardless of shooters ability and knowledge of his gun. When you can use an 80 power scope that can range down to 1 foot increments and see the hairs on a flys legs at 55 yards its far easier to hit the kill zone. I have shot with others in AAFTA that have 8000 plus in their guns and scopes.

I am not sure if the small course we would set up will be for AAFTA rules of 10 to 55 yards for targets or for the UK game we shoot now which is 8 to 45 yards.

So a lane is generally 5 to 8 yards wide and out to 80 yards will be more than enough for setup of targets at varying ranges. I see no reason that 5 yards width per lane would not be plenty of spacing. If we setup 10 lanes then that would be 50 yards in width. Can do less lanes if needed due to space limitation. Shooting will be done from sitting, prone, kneeling, standing and bucket and sticks ( bipods ) so no need for any benches or chairs.

The targets get reset by strings attached to them that are placed at the shooting position so can be reset workout need to go down range while shooting is in progress. I am sure we will have a scored match or two for those that want to compete, but also see no reason that the targets cannot be shot at ones leisure all day provided proper safety guidelines are followed. Common sense is key here just as on any other shooting range.

Yes a 50 by 80 yard area should be plenty of room for a 10 lane course to be setup for all to enjoy.

Yes, they shut us down at the end of the night shift on Friday.
We supply Hyundai in Montgomery. They were shutdown on Wednesday after a team member tested positive for the virus.
As of now, we are shut down through March 31st. They will completely sanitize our plant and all will be screened (not tested) for symptoms before allowed back in the plant.
Thankfully, I am a salaried employee and my pay will continue. Many are not. We employ around 750 people at our plant.

I guess I'm lucky, my Home Depot in Nashville is still open. If they do begin to close stores in and around Nashville my understanding is that my store will be the last to close, it has always been their big money-making store. We could end up with people at my store that are from other stores if more people choose to stay home, we have had about 32-35 employees who have chosen to stay home at this point. Home Depot stepped up and has given all its full-time employees an additional 80 hours of sick pay. At 65 I hope I don't need to use it but may stay home voluntarily if the number of C19 cases continues to rise in Nashville.

Bill, glad to hear you’re taking it day by day and haven’t shut it down. Also glad to hear you’re open to moving the date if necessary. I kick myself for not going last year when it was here in Arkansas. But I do HVAC and typically I’m swamped right now, it’s hard to take time off for much March/April til around September/October. So even your shoot was iffy for me, but I have to say, I love Alabama! I was stationed at Ft. McClellan in Anniston for 5 years (92-97) and have a lot of friends that stayed after they got out of the Army. I was there for our reunion last summer. Right now I’m getting upside down so there’s probably no way I could make the shoot even if things get back on track. But I’m not going to say I can’t make it still, if the date gets moved, as we are all taking it day by day. So if the date gets moved and for some reason things work out, boy I’d love to come. We’ll all keep hanging on, and of course I’ll keep watching this thread.

Yes..... moving the date is an option. As of right now it would be illegal to bring this many people into close proximity of each other even if we wanted to.
When I have options I will post them to see if we can find a date which best fits all of us.
As for now, it's just a wait n see thing.

Spoke with Travis as to which direction we should go. Next week I will contact the courthouse to see what our options are for postponing or cancelling. None of us know when this thing might blow over and what the turnout would be even if it does.
The company I work for is the largest employer in our county. We are shut down with plans to open early next month. Our communities are being strained. Our state is still under the 'stay at home' order as of this morning.

NY Gov. Cuomo has extended the stay at home order to May 15 and will extend it further depending on the number of new cases and hospital admissions vs discharges also the status of possible treatment options along with the availability of both antibody and viral tests. He has also upped the face covering mandate to anyone out in public and close proximity to others.

Right now I am ready to find someplace with zero other people and a good trout stream  ::) ::) ::) :P :P

Bill, it looks like Texas and Alabama *may* be the leaders in re-opening.

The economic fallout is going to be MUCH worse than the virus.

The country will come back from a recession, loved ones don't come back from the grave.

The numbers simply don't support destroying the economy of the USA.   Believe it or not.

More people will die if the economy is not "allowed" to work than this virus could ever cause to die.

The flu is STILL causing more deaths than Covid-19 as I write this.   However, we have never shut down the US economy for the flu.

People will still die after the economy is re-opened.   MORE people will die if the economy is not re-opened.

We didn't shut down the economy for AIDS and it was a CERTAIN death sentence when it was first detected/diagnosed.

The longer the economy is shut down the more people will eventually die because of economic reasons.   Much more than the C-19 could ever do.

that is gotta be the most non sensical comment of this thread. what? AIDS is transmitted like Covid 19? that is plane asinine. No. the economy is not going down the toilet and we will make it through. One thing is certain, we goota be here for it to be an economy. Some people fear losing comfort more than their lives... Dont bother responding to this... when someone close to you is hanging on the brink on an ICU you can come back and argue your pennies.

CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2018–2019 season included an estimated 35.5 million people getting sick with influenza, 16.5 million people going to a health care provider for their illness, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths from influenza

from the CDC report.

so far this year in the US only:

Covid 19: 40403

Flu: 5228

the only difference is that the flu killed from Jan 1st. Covid is a "late starter", lets say... still think is "like the flu"?

How do we know that some of those deaths attributed to COVID were not actually from flu? We don't. It's entirely possible that COVID was here and making people ill in late Nov or early December. That being said, flu death projections by the CDC are for up to 60,000 +. We won't know for quite some time what the real numbers, on either flu OR Covid....that is if we ever DO really know the numbers.

And now....back to the topic at hand....the GTA Funshoot, not COVID or death.

lizzie, i apologize for the number change... just realized that i was about 35k off.

we can go back to all we want but lets just let that number sink in...

so a projection of 60k+ for the year is still going to be surpassed and then some by this new disease... numbers are numbers.

Not to derail this thread but at this time no one can say how many will/have died from the flu or actual covid-19, but here is the CDCs statistics from 2010/2011 flu season to 2017/2018 flu season. In link scroll down to "how many adults die from flu each year." In 2017/2018 flu season the number was an estimated 79,000. It has risen every year in the report.

 https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2018-2019.htm (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2018-2019.htm)

How many adults die from flu each year?
Flu deaths in adults are not nationally notifiable. In order to monitor influenza related deaths in all age groups, CDC tracks pneumonia and influenza (P&I)–attributed deaths through the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) Mortality Reporting System. This system tracks the proportion of death certificates processed that list pneumonia or influenza as the underlying or contributing cause of death. This system provides an overall indication of whether flu-associated deaths are elevated, but does not provide an exact number of how many people died from flu. As it does for the numbers of flu cases, doctor’s visits and hospitalizations, CDC also estimates deaths in the United States using mathematical modeling. CDC estimates that from 2010-2011 to 2017-2018, influenza-associated deaths in the United States ranged from a low of 12,000 (during 2011-2012) to a high of 79,000 (during 2017-2018). The model used to estimate flu-associated deaths uses a ratio of deaths-to-hospitalizations in order to estimate the total flu-related deaths during a season. For more information: How CDC Estimates Burden.

If AM interested in the Fun shoot, and had planned to attend (I usually fly out yearly for the event)- and am hoping it will still happen this year.
This is Bill's thread about an event he is hosting for all who want to come, and it is NOT the place for political discussion. Period. There are at least a couple of threads in the back room concerning The coronavirus, and you are perfectly welcome to post in those.

And just fyi.....I did not moderate your comments. I simply told you guys that this is not the place for discussion of the viral issue, so take your thoughts on the virus to the appropriate threads and forum board, and why in the heck you'd think I was in the least bit interested in "banning" you, is beyond my imagination.
Simply leave the politics, disease and death comments out of Bill's thread, and take them where they can be discussed.

The whole thing is getting the better of a lot of us.. making us edgy and what not. I have even been a little shorter with Betty Lou and Rambo lately.
To make matters worse.. we had some pretty bad weather blow through here last night and we had been without power for the past 18 hours. Power lines and trees down everywhere. So far one death reported... a tree fell on a mobile home killing one.... and BTW, that's one more death than the virus has killed in our county.
Alabama is one of the states expected to open back up before most others but, the chance of the fun shoot happening on time, if at all, is still hard to determine.
The courthouse is still closed but I was able to get ahold of the probate office and renew the stickers for my tags. I asked if they would transfer me to the office that schedules the events at the AG Center and I was told they were closed and nobody was manning the phones.
Unfortunately that is all the info I can provide at this time.

I was finally able to contact the Events Department at our local courthouse today. They have been closed due to the pandemic. They are the folks that handle the scheduling for events held at the Ag Center.
At their advice I cancelled the May 16th - 17th Fun Shoot East. At this point, our state is still closed to these types of events for at least the next 2 weeks. The closure may even be extended beyond that.
I would hope to plan a Fun Shoot in the fall of this year but nobody knows how this thing is going to play out.
For those of you who have made raffle and door prize donation we have options:
1) We can hang on to the items and see what happens in the fall.
2) I can transfer the items to the GTA for forum raffles or support of other planned events.
3) I can return the items to those who donated them.
If you choose to have them returned, please allow time for me to do so. I only have the USPS as an option for shipping and I'm not sure if they are even accepting packages for shipping right now... I'll check into that if needed.
Betty Lou and I were sooo looking forward to this Fun Shoot and we are very sorry for any inconvenience it may cause some of you. We will now look forward to the next opportunity to host one.
Please, everyone stay healthy and safe.

No problem Paul..
I really wanted to make some sort of announcement sooner but I wasn't able to contact anyone in this department of the courthouse. We feel that even if we were permitted to have this event, the turnout would not be good. So, we will wait until we can insure that this event will be a fun shoot for everyone (see what I did there? ;) ).

This will happen Keith.... sooner or later. Even if it's on a smaller scale, it will happen.
The Ag Center is just too perfect of a venue for us not to have a Fun Shoot there eventually.
Trust me, ya'll do not want to attend an outdoor event in the heat of mid summer in this area of lower Alabama.

Good decision, Bill.  My Judy and I were discussing the event two days ago.  We had decided not to attend if it was in Mid-May.  Mid-summer would have been okay by me (South Louisiana born); but others would have suffered.  In the fall will be much more enjoyable.  I will be watching.
