I recommend a Pro Chrono DX with Bluetooth and download the app.I've set mine up at 10m, 25 yards, 50 yards, 100 yards etc to get good ballistic data from guns and projectiles like pellets and boolits. I also use it for reloading my PBs amongst other other things. But as some said, yeah, sky is the limit. I got a Labradar and it's nice, but I find I'm using the Pro Chrono more because the interface is simpler and the app works well. I've had issues with the Bluetooth app for the Labradar.
I like my ProChrono DX w/bluetooth and light kit.As a matter of fact, a chrono will help you answer your second question.
