Title: Kral Puncher Mega Marine
Post by: maraudinglizard on January 09, 2019, 08:09:59 PM
After a few days of fondling and drooling over the KP, I finally got down to business with this beautiful gun. Just doing the basics with it, mounting the scope which has a gracious view, making a few adjustments to the trigger to get the safety to work properly, adjust the sear as well to make sure it cocked properly. There is no travel at in the trigger, it's predictable and breaks cleanly. The power adjuster is easy to see and use. I kept in the middle for noise sake, it is loud on the high setting which would make it hard to be backyard friendly in close quarters. DonnyFL has the adapters and LDC available for this gun. On the low setting it is quiet and the only thing you hear is the pellet hitting the target. There is no ping at all when shooting it. Cocking it is very easy and smooth, no grinding or gritty feeling to it at all. It accepts the single shot tray and magazine with ease, there is a groove so there is only one way they can go into the receiver. The magazine definitely has the room for even the longest pellets and loads the same way you load a Maurauder magazine. This gun is built well, the fit is tight nothing loose on it at all. The finish is clean and smooth, no sharp edges. The stock is ambidextrous so all you lefties out there can shoot this one if you don't mind the cocking lever being on the right side. The checkering is well done and in all the right places. It is a heavy gun even without the scope so a sling may help with that if hunting with it.

It's a gun that you just can't put down, it such a joy to shoot. I went through 90rds. and still had air for 30 or 40 more shots. It's accurate right out of the box, I used the JSB Exact Heavies 10.34gr. I had a 15 to 20mph. windy day but manage to keep everything tight. Also I did not have my gun bag with me so I made a fist with my left hand, sighted in at 10yds and went from there.  I finally balled up a sweat shirt for a rest,
weeds and twigs were doomed. I even nailed some of the numbers on the targets as well.

More to come. Waiting on the compressor to get here so I can keep up with this one.  ;)

Thanks guys, the compressor has arrived and I am off this weekend. No yard work except getting one range lane open to shoot in. It's just going to be me and KP.  ;)

Kris, looks like you won the stock-lottery on that rifle, too.

Impressive shooting for the improvised "rest" especially in wind like that.

Kris, Please let me know what is the finish on the Krale Puncher Marine.
I have had your exact gun on my shortlist for a while.
I have read it is paint and flakes off easily. I find this hard to believe when my $90 Beeman Silver Kodiak is actual stainless coated and it has worn extremely well for 3 years.

Kris I'm sure that DEz showed that rifle some love before he boxed it up and shipped it to you  ;D ;D

Scott its the nickle satin finish on the barrel, only time will tell if the finish flakes off. It would be a shame if that happened to such a beautiful gun.

Don, there is no doubt that it got molested before I molested it some more, if you were close by I would let you molest it as well. It is a beautiful gun and so far it's met all my expectations. Yes, the compressor is going to make things a whole lot easier for me to shoot as well.

Please keep us posted on the durability.

Scott-I've had the Puncher Breaker Marine since they were 1st available and haven't had any problem with the silver finish at all. Dunno what they used but it seems to be very durable. I DID have other problems initially (broken cocking lever and valve stem) but thanks to JSAR & Troy Hammer those are takin care of. Very accurate, LOTS of shots and now reliable.

Where did cocking lever break, was it at the pivot point or the lever itself. Thanks for the heads up. So far everything is working fine for me.

Did shoot it again today, this time on full power and at 40yds. Seems to be doing well with the JSBs, I will eventually try other pellets. Filling it from the Nomad was a breeze, didn't take long and didn't heat up the air tube either. Luckily I have an ample supply of pellets to keep this thing well feed. It doesn't take long to burn up a 100 rounds in this gun.

I have the 25 version but with no shroud....it is pretty darn lout....I am also quite happy with mine as well....but it is a real fatty....it has some real heft to it.

I agree with everything you said, just a joy to shoot.

I had the 177 model, no shroud.. I liked it. But it became awkward to use. Once I put 30mm scope and FX no limit rings. Nothing like a nice walnut stock, and gotta bubba it with a ugly cheek rest.

Mine came from the factory with blemishes on the marine coating.. The dealer I bought it from. Said a lot of them came like that, and the distributor even noticed it.

It was the cocking lever itself. It was made of cheapo "pot metal" with a chrome-like finish. A VERY common problem with them, as well as the valve stems snapping in two. I don't KNOW for sure but I believe those problems were taken care of by Kral. The first clue that the cocking lever was going was it popping open after firing a shot. Close inspection would reveal tiny cracks in the plating, then it would break shortly thereafter. I think JSAR still sells quality replacements. Their trigger sear also is a great replacement. Made my trigger SO MUCH better.

Thanks for the info Ed. Only time will tell other than that it's a great shooter. Hoping to get some numbers with the chrony and decibel meter to see what is under the hood and how loud it really is. I will eventually buy a DonnyFL ldc to tame the report down. This gun may be my next squirrel grocery gun. It does hit with authority on high power and keep it to half inch groups with a shooting bipod at 40yds.
