Title: Texas State Piston Rifle Championship - RESULTS
Post by: Brazos on October 22, 2018, 01:42:17 PM
Below is a cut & paste of the email sent out to the Texas FT shooters.  If you would like to attend please PM me with your email address.

All,

Back by popular demand we will be holding the 3rd Annual Texas State Piston Championship on Saturday November 17th (please note this is the 3rd Saturday and not our normal 2nd Saturday).  Just like the past 2 years this is a spring piston (or gas ram piston) match only.  No PCP rifles allowed on the range for this match.  You can choose between the 3 AAFTA piston classes, Open/WFTF/Hunter, and follow the rules for your class of choice.  1st-3rd place awards will be given for the top 3 overall scores.  The course will be set up to be more spring rifle friendly using bigger KZ then normally used.  Since awards will be given the cost for this match is $15/guest or $10/PPAA members.  As always lunch will be served.  Because this is a special match I am sending out my announcement earlier than normal so you can put it on your calendar.  Please start letting me know if you are coming, including PPAA members.  The match is a month from tomorrow so get your spring rifle out and start practicing!

EDIT - This match will be held at Pecan Planation which is in Granbury, TX

Thanks.

Craig

Here are the results from Saturday:

All,

Below are the results of the match on Saturday.  We had a nice turnout and a fun morning of shooting piston rifles.  I think everything was about as perfect as we could have hoped for except a crazy amount of wind.  As I repainted the targets yesterday I figured out my problem and most everyone else’s problem.  The wind was pushing our shots off to the right.  There was one guy though that seemed to have figured it out and that was Paul Bracaglia with a 46/56.  Paul whipped everyone.  The shots he did miss were primarily in the standing & kneeling lanes.  Great shooting Paul!  Second place, for the 3rd year in a row with a 39/46, was Terry Vanpool.  Third place, with a 37/56, was Jim Clarke.  Except for Paul’s score the overall scores were down about 10 points from our past 2 piston championships and this match had the lowest Troyer at 27 (previous Troyer’s were 30.0 & 29.3).  So I figured it was the wind.  Thanks for all those that came out and we will try it again next year.

Craig
