Title: 4 rings piston won't fit vevor.
Post by: shinyknight on January 07, 2019, 05:31:43 PM
I ordered the 4 rings piston and just letting y'all know if you have the vevor with 1 ring, it will not fit. So don't bother buying it and save the $20. It was only $20 so wasn't a big deal. Just letting y'all know.

You could turn down the piston or bore out the cylinder head. I think the piston would be the easier of the two.

I was thinking of that. But then the rings still won't fit cause it still be larger and will be lose in the Piston after it's trimmed. Im thinking might get a Yong Heng head to replace the vevor head. Not sure why vevor uses one piston rings, cause it gets wore after few use.

I guess you would have to cut the ring recesses as well and trim the rings down.

That was my other options. But I didn't want to damage the rings since it's what seal the pressure, so I decided to bore out the head instead. Bad idea, I thought it was soft aluminum and would be easy to drill through. Only tool I have was a hand drill. It was hard to drill though, seem likes inside is harden steel. Got my bit stuck 1/4 way though. Can't even pull the bit out. Try clamping the bit and pulling the head off. Try hammering on the head to knock off the bit. It will not budge. Guess will be ordering an Yong Heng head. Lol

I don't much about it but you might try warming up the head with a craft type heat gun to get the bit out/unstuck. At the worst all you loose is time.

A small butane torch could work as well.
