Does anyone know if there exists an illustrated book on tuning air rifles? Something like an ultimate guide? Picking up the info piecemeal from articles just doesn't cut it.

But there's no getting around some first hand trial and error and the value of the info right here on the GTA... Patience Grasshoppa! :)

Look in the GTA Library there are tons of posts on just about every brand and configuration. Just be aware that you will need to build yourself a spring compressor to get started safely even though there are some rifles that "don't" absolutely need one it will make disassembly and reassembly much easier and will end up using less of the extended vocabulary ;D
PS keep an eye on this thread many of the old timers anr very skilled tuners and will provide guidance to those that ask for help

Great link, I have not seen much books on airguns, almost every book about rifles is on a propellent rifle of some sort. I would love to see more literature on airguns

Thanks for that very comprehensive link Paul. I wonder that none of the great tuners has written a book. They might lose some business because of it, but they'd more than make up for it in royalties. So who will be the first to publish ...The Compete Air Gun Tuning Book fully illustrated.

Its one thing to read a book and a whole another story with the hands on experience! I know allot of guy's who have tried their hand at tuning their own guns and couldn't figure out what they did wrong and why their gun don't work right! you can read about it all the time on this forum and it can be very dangerous if you have no clue to what your doing! even experts make mistakes! :P

I think it could be well said that the GTA is THE comprehensive volume on all things airgun. Sure there are many pro tuners out there who keep their wisdom and tricks close to the vest, but thankfully they eventually migrate elsewhere to peddle their wares. All of the pros who eventually settle into the GTA realize that the more good information which is put out here to help individuals do their own thing will eventually translate into more business. The more folks that have a positive experience will come back many times over as they have friends, who have friends...and likely only one or two out of five will have the desire to do their own thing; the rest are are going to need/want someone with the right skill-set to do the work for them. Pretty much a win-win situation all around!
However, if you still need a hard copy of "The Complete Airgun Encyclopedia and Tuning Book"; get over to Staples, pick up 5-6 cases of printer paper and a couple gallons of ink and have at it! LOL:)

;) Uncle Paulie has the right of it, many of the people who migrate to this or any sport may enjoy it immensely but most will not have either the aptitude, desire, or the time to master the mechanical workings of the rifle or pistol they enjoy shooting. For the few that do enjoy tinkering with their "toys" Many of the members of this sight are more than willing to share their knowledge and experience with all of us "newbies"
PS, That is what makes this a great site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
