Title: Ordering from Walmart
Post by: Tater on September 23, 2017, 05:06:43 AM
Huge news!
I've had issues for years even trying ordering pellets from Walmart. Not long ago, I was finally able to order H&N pellets and Crosman pellets for in-store pick-up.
Today, someone posted a Maximus close-out for $169 in the Bargain Gate there so I clicked on to order just to check. The order went through! I cancelled it right away, but maybe they are finally changing there shipping policies. It's worth checking it if you see a good deal.

Are you certain it's Walmart that has/had these restrictions? Illinois is not the most sportsman friendly state, especially when it comes to guns and ammunition, and it could be the state calling the shots withtheir regulations and laws. Trust me, Walmart wants to be able to sell anything and everything to everybody everywhere. It's the state's who put the restrictions on them.

This is great news Jerry, i feel your pain with Walmart and Illinois airgun laws. For the longest they wouldn't let me site to store anything pertaining to airguns. I gave the corporate line a ear full a few times since i missed out on online sales and you cant price match online with actual prices in the store. I also gave my mom (a assistant store manager) a earful once about how they don't seem to know the laws pertaining to airguns. So excited things are changing. Now if i could just convince crosman to ship to a ffl dealer i would have it made.

I gave Walmart corporate an earful several times too.
And Joe, it's not the laws here that are main problem. Until just recently, they would not even ship pellets to the store even though they sell pellets in that store. Was pretty much only Crosman pellets in there though. Also, lower power airguns like a 1377 have always been legal for anyone to buy here.

If it's not the laws that are the main problem, perhaps it's the ambiguity in the laws that has Walmart'a legal team deciding to not ship said merchandise. The problems all stem from laws and how they're written. Keep in mind that laws are not written by lawmakers. Most of them arent smart enough to do that. Instead, they are written by lobbyists who feed money into the campaigns of their puppet politicians so they can do the bidding of the lobby. Sadly, most of us don't have enough money to own a politician...or maybe that's a good thing. I'd rather have a new PCP rather than a politician. 😂

I feel like you both have the same point.....just worded differently. Illinois laws are horrible and Walmart was just doing what their legal team told them to do.

Illinois would be an automated shopping cart nightmare.
IF you are over 16 and
IF the gun is the right caliber and
IF the gun is under a certain velocity and
IF you live in a permissible zip code
THEN we can send you a rifle.

As for pellets though, it's just dumb that they won't ship those. I'm not aware of any IL regulation that applies to airgun ammo with the possible exception of age.

When I talked to a manager at the corporate office, he told me it was because they sorted restrictions by zip code. The problem is, they only use the first 2 (I believe it was 2) digits and it lumped most of the state in with Chicago restrictions.
Anyways, it seems like they are finally solving it.

Some things are starting to look better for us.

Keep writing your state reps and maybe we can make this nonsense go away!
