The Rangeomatic Ranging 610 ranges from 16 to 200 yards, and the TLR 75 ranges from 10 to 75 yards. Both are purely optomechanical devices that require no batteries.
I also have a Leupold laser rangefinder. The size of the laser rangefinder is very compact by comparison, and it even measures incline angles. I like the laser rangefinder very much.
However, the coincidence rangefinders have their advantages, as well. For example, they can be used indoor behind glass windows. They are also easy to adjust, calibrate and fix. Needless to mention, such rangefinders are inexpensive as you can only find them used on eBay or some other auction sites.
In the field, I find one problem with a laser rangefinder is ranging small objects (like a ground squirrel) on a flat field, possibly with grass, trigs or some other obstruction that can interrupt the laser beam. A coincidence rangefinder does not have issues with this kind of scenario as long as the object to be ranged has a relatively high contrast vertical edge.
I am not selling the laser rangefinder any time soon, but having a low-tech back up does make me feel better!
