Title: JSB .357 pellets in my Storm Pup
Post by: Nomadic Pirate on March 24, 2013, 11:16:25 PM
They shoot absolutely fantastic, without even trying hard I got immediatly groups at 40 yards than can be covered by a Quater.

I belive they are more efficient than the Roundbal since they are grouping 2" higher even if they are heavier.

they cycle flawlessly too, the EunJin I had to fiddle with the magazine to chamber them

Still waiting for the Matts Bullets Wadcutters, but boy this pellet is gonna be hard to beat  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Nomad,

Good to hear the JSBs are working out. I'll order some for my .357 Rainstorm.

Have you found that the .357 Eun Jin 78 grains are very (very) hard to chamber in your Rainstorm? I don't mean just difficulty cycling the magazine - I mean that just closing the side lever to chamber a Eun Jin is extremely hard, as if the bore was tight.  I'm a pretty strong guy - strong enough that I'm worried about damaging the lever when I chamber these.

How hard is it to chamber the  Eun Jins  in yours? Any ideas?

Also, has anyone found that putting an LDC on one of these Rainstorms (.357 best comparison) severely changes the scope zero point - or even seems to throw the accuracy right out? And also not much noise reduction at all? Any LDC experiences with Windy City or Rainstorm or any other Evanix .357?

Thanks

I put an LDC on the MAX and the POI was exactly the same, I have one on order for the StormPup, from experiance with my much louder Ultras .357s the Neil Clauge LDC does real wonders, he makes them that slip over the shroud so you keep the overall lenght of the rifle down.

EunJin pellets from my experiance on other guns too are actually smaller probably true 9mm, that's why they shoot so inneficient and all over the place, I think they feel hard to chamber because they don't work well with the mag, i would stop using them, try chamber them without the mag to see

After the way the roundballs have been working in my 202s I can't wait to get some of these pellets!  I love having 10 good highpowered shots for those 100yd shots at rabbits and coyotes.

i shot them from a tuned recluse which i may need to clean   at full power they didnt group well at 50   low poer they were better from the recluse   glad they worked better in youer gun think they would work great low power on an untuned recluse

yeah the storm is a 120-130 FPE gun, of a Tuned Recluse you need to shoot in the 150-160gr at least

Manny,

What is the total weight of your Storm Pup with the scope, bipod, etc?  I would like to find something a little lighter than my Rogue.

Don't have a scale, but it's a 8 # gun naked, even with all the extras it's not heavy especially since it's so short all the weight is in a compact area, gotta be 20 % or lighter than the rouge and half the size, haha

I was thinking it would be lighter by quite a bit.  The Rogue is 10 plus pounds before you mount the scope and with my back the way it is I need something lighter but still want the punch of a .357.  Your Storm Pup is a cool looking setup and it looks really accurate as well.  Would you recommend having a new shipped directly to Will for a tune and what could a guy expect to pay him for his services?

Well, actually the only thing the Will ended up doing on mine was the trigger, he literaly said that the factory for power shot count tune is as good as it gets on this gun,
the wood stock regular version is a tad lighter and the ergonomics with that stock are spectacular, it's a very well shaped stock , really comfortable, I'll be getting myself a .357 with the wooden stock as soon as they come avaiable.

one thing that Will can do is extend the Shroud to make the gun real quiet

That is one good looking gun, if I get a wild hair to get another I am definitely looking at that gun in .25.  I can't wait to see the vermin that make a mistake and get in front of you when you have it!
