I like higher power for shooting off a stable fixture and slightly lower for off hand shooting
@Dhunter, no one holds “super still” the shot is sent at the right time, with minimal movement. It’s not about “bad vision”, a better, clearer look at a target is not a bad thing.
Well.....I've only got one air rifle.its a BB and it's a pig. On top of that my left shoulder has a grade 5 ac. It's way to heavy and uncomfortable to off hand, so from day one I've used bipods. I've only tried to shoot it off hand under a dozen x's . With that, since I'm always bipod/bench shooting, a few weeks ago I went even BIGGER on optics from 16x to 34x and absolutely love the increase in magnification! I can see my holes in targets better and it's like I can "zero in" or concentrate more on my target and pay more attention to my hold/breathing. And yes even on bipod it is hold sensitive in how snugly I hold to my shoulder. So far I'm not finding myself going beyond the 20-25 x but I bet when I take this out camping on the islands and get to shoot longer ranges I'd probably be going up to the 30x. Does it look ridiculous having a scope that size on a measly AR....I don't care. Am I trying to be some kind of tacticool mounting some ultra zoom uber wannabe sniper optic...no, and I don't care what others think. Do I NEED a scope that size...no, but it sure as *(&^ is a lot nicer (and better results to boot) than struggling with lower magnification. AND yep...I'm the idiot that has a scope that costs about 3 times as much as his Chinese &^^& underperforming airgun.but again I dont care. My setup is what I could afford and where i decided to spend MY $ on. But, the part that matters most to me is...i have a blast shooting my one and only airgun i own currently, regardless if i look stupid using bipods, and a big mag. scope. In it's current configuration it is the most fun and comfortable air rifle I've ever had. And here she is in all her absurdness..
