I bought a printer (Monoprice Maker select V2) a month or so before Covid hit.
Started working from home when PA locked down and set up a make shift office in a bedroom we use for storage. I also set up the printer there.
Printed lots of upgrades, bought and installed several too. One of the best was setting up a Raspberry Pi with camera. Game changer for me.
Although I had Cura on my Toshiba laptop I was operating off of my work laptop primarily.
After a few months we all went back into the office. I did not need to be at my home desk every day and soon my work space was piled high in storage. So I did nothing.
Saturday the lid switch on our older Maytag washer burned out, I was not in a fixing mood but I fixed that.
An hour later my 12 year old daughter informed me she had to do a school project on colonizing Mars and could I print some houses for her.
UGGGHH the thought of making room and setting that all back up again forced me to get a fresh drink. After blaming all the clutter on my wife and her doing the same, she was good enough to clear out enough that I could take care of some of my own junk and get back to the desk and printer.
Hurdle #2 was that my work laptop had been replaced several months ago. The OG SSD was retained but some things seemed to be missing, Or I have not found them yet.
My Toshiba running Windows 7 finally gave up the ghost after 11 years. I have the data from that as well but need to spend some time hunting.
I tried installing Octopi as I had before (I think) but was proving daunting and quite frustrating. I managed to find the PI through the IP address and made the link.
Cura installed fine but My printer was not in their list so after some Duck Duck Going I found that a Wanhao model which IS on the has the same settings and my memory clicked, that is what I had done before.
Now I'm all set, the bike is together, I know how to get on it but will need some time to get back in the swing of pedaling, steering and balancing all at the same time.
I checked Zero at Z, made a little adjustment and printed an XYZ calibration cube with PLA. Success!
I tried a design from Thingiverse and it was mostly a good print bud had some bridging fail spots and may need some tweaking.
The only colors I had in PLA were Black, Red and some other dark colors, maybe I should do it all in metallic rainbow since I have it. At any rate I ordered a spool each of White and Gray. They arrived today and I think one or the other would be a much better choice for this project so I will print another design tonight and see what else I do not remember.
Not just like riding a bike (at least not the way I have it setup) but it will be fun relearning all over again.
Have to find my previous settings for PETG and ABS.
Sorry this got so long.
