Hi Dave,What I've done with my 55's is drill out the peep aperture to 4m/m and re blue it, to then make it more for sporting use as I don't do 10 meter paper punching. It opens up the field of view just right for small pests and plinking.
THanks for the great reply kind sir !! I actually own both and love the hw55, the fwb124 I have, has something wrong with it, as it wont shoot. from what I have herd it is a common problem is which the breach seals or something of the sorts fall apart after a long time, so I am debating on having it fixed or selling it, and put the money towards a hw98 as I just love the trigger on the HW guns. So I have not shot the 124 since I was a kid, (i am 50) as these are my dads guns I recently inherited and cant seem to put the hw55 down just love this gun. And I remember back as a kid I never liked the trigger on the fwb124. BUt I really want a gun that will shoot 40-50 yards so I really appreciate your input, I see you seem to be fan of the hw55 as well what type of sights do you use, I am really digging the stock peep sight after fooling with a couple scopes I like the peep better I believethanksDave

Search for Champoins Choice and find it on their site. For some reason I can't post a link.Once you use one of these you'll never want to use a plain peep sight again. It gives you a very small amount of magnification (1.5X), but what makes it so useful is being able to adjust the doiopter to your eyes (just like prescription glasses) and being able to open/close down the aperture depending on the light and how much you want to see in focus. It might seem expensive at first, but it is probably the best airgun accessory I have ever bought.Your 124 just needs a rebuild. Jim Macarri has everything needed. Search for Air Rifle Headquarters to find his site.It probably just needs a piston seal, but I would recommend getting a seal and tune kit that includes a new spring and fitted guide. If you've never worked on spring piston guns I would have a known tuner do the work.
" hey Andrew which front sight do you use, I like the post with the ball on top the best so far. "Yep post with the bead in all my 55's.Just can't miss with that set up.
hey J is that the one you use, with no color filters (what ever that means) man this is great info I am excited about it, I will be getting one. Does it just screw right in? will the rubber cover fit over it?
